Brinx Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Looking good, I've been trying one myself...I think I'm going to re-do and try your approach. Can't wait to see more. brinx
goodwin3224 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Thanks. The way I'm doing it makes it pretty easy
goodwin3224 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 I suspect it reads 80,000 pound cap, which equals 40 ton US. possible idk. all i know is that its my first one and im doing the best i can t it
Old Buckaroo Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Nice work, and you make it look so easy. Where do you get the plans for projects like this ? I use to drive a truck with a lowboy that could haul 80 tons or more, it was a little beefier. That mama jama measured 102' from front bumper to rear deck. It was a lot of fun to drive but a rough ride .
goodwin3224 Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 haha oh yeah i bet that rode as smooth as a brick in a dryer. and i pretty much just let my fingers do some walking
mackd Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I fully agree with Richard this lowboy is not a 80 tons.A 60-ton today must have a jeep of at least two axles and the lowboy five axles. In the 1980s a 55 ton lowboy had three axles with with suspension springs. The law of the road load was less severe than today. kilrathy10 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) You keep plugging along on this, Man....I think you're gonna have a really nice trailer to show for the work you're putting into it....I pretty much eyeball just about everything and don't pay much attention to accuracy.....If it looks right, it is right....Just like building a fence, to me.....Who cares what the actual rating would be in 1:1....It's a model, Man...And I'm not saying anything against anyone, either, but it's a model.....It's whatever you say it is, Justin.....Thank you for taking the time to post it....I can't wait to see more.....I like where you're going with this....
