Well, Glendale, technically. 47th Ave and Olive. Although I have never actually lived in Glendale before. Maryvale High School grad class of '77. Glendale Community College grad December 1985.

Lived there from the time I was 10 til 8 years ago. '69 to '05, with time out for 6 years in the Navy from '77 to '83. Moved here to Ohio beginning of '06.

I was born here and always wanted to come back. Well, to quote B.B. King, the thrill is gone. Can't wait to get away from all this darn snow and cold and potholes and Daylight Savings Time and lousy employers and a whole bunch of other stuff. Ohio might be a great place to be a kid, but being a working adult here sucks. Plus all my immediate family is out there in Phoenix. My wife isn't thrilled about the move mainly since we own our home here, and this is the first time in her life she has ever been a home owner. But she is looking forward to the move overall. Things like Whataburger (my personal favorite), In and Out, the Islands, Manuels mexican restaurant, Sweet Tomatoes, Jack in the Box, and others that are not back here are helping. She has a list of about 10 restaurants that are on the must visit list.

Going to be renting a house from my brother for awhile. He is footing the bill for the move, we couldn't do this without his help.

Hoping that I can get a job fast, I am an RF Electronic Technician, and the market for those isn't very good here in NE Ohio. Already doing the job search stuff, so far best bet looks like starting as a temp. Will get more serious about that when we have a firm date set. Looks like first weekend of April, but still up in the air.

I am hoping to be able to get involved with a club once I get out there. Going to depend a lot on my job situation. Odds are I will be working second shift.

Question-is there still a swap meet at the Jewish Temple on (I think) West Bethany Home Rd? I used to really enjoy going to that. It was late winter or early spring if I remember correctly.

I have already checked and am thrilled that the Hobby Depot in Tempe is still going strong. I used to work in Tempe and spent many a lunch hour there.

Well, Russ, welcome back to Phoenix!

Just wait til you see what's going on these days!

The swap meet you refer to is still going strong . . . although it is 3 times a year now instead of only once a year: once in the Spring, once early Summer and once in the Fall. It is now held at the Postal Workers' Union Hall, 3720 W. Greenway Road, Phoenix. Not terribly far from where you'll be living.

But it gets better. The Desert Scale Classic contest/show and swap meet is APRIL 12 at the Postal Workers' Union Hall. You can't miss that!! It's huge - hundreds of entries from 7 or 8 states plus a great swap meet and a barbeque afterwards. More info at the Cactus Car Modelers site . . . http://www.cactuscarmodelers.com/

Moonlight Modelers Club is still going strong after more than 30 years! Meetings 3rd Saturday of the month. Check it out . . . http://www.moonlightmodelers.com/

Cactus Car Modelers Club is another great club . . . Meets 2nd Wednesday every month . . . http://www.cactuscarmodelers.com/

Good Guys Rod & Custom Association holds two events in Scottsdale every year with big model car and pedal car contests/shows at Westworld. You'll miss the Spring Nationals (March 7,8, & 9 this year), but you'll be here for the Southwest Nationals in November.

The IPMS Craig Hewitt Chapter (Phoenix) meets 1st Tuesday of every month and holds a big contest and swap meet 1st weekend of November.

AND, really great news for you is a huge new hobby complex opening in April at 3401 W. Greenway Road . . . HobbyTown USA retail store, indoor R/C track, outdoor R/C track, indoor go-cart track, plus restaurant and meeting rooms, build rooms, etc.

So, good luck with the job hunt and give us a holler when you get here!!!
