Foxer Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 This looks fantastic for a first build! Those molded in exhausts are a real pain ... you can mask them tape, but I usually do just paint them by hand as you did. I just run a line about a deep as the pipe od and not try to paint to the bottom. This does avoid the bottom crease against the underside and looks a bit more true to the size. Of course painting a straight line like that is not simple, but you seem to have a good steady hand with the brush. I was Artillery also, Pershing Missile in 67-68 in Germany.
Obivion Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Looks good. Maybe next time try to experiment with some washes on the engine to give it more depth... Dennis
Field_Artillery63 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 67, 68... with all due respect, it is amazing to be chatting with such 'old' modelers. I was unaware the community was that strong and ranged so much in age. You guys are my hero's, you were around before all the technology made every day life so easy, before it was ok to not live up to your word. These days it's rare to find trust in this world, especially my generation. I've always been told I have an old soul so I think I've definitely found the right group of people to discuss my modeling with . Thanks guys!

Dennis Thanks Dennis, what do you recommend for the wash. The oily look on the bottom of the chassis it just from me touching up where the aluminum paint hit the flat black paint, which turned out oily black lol...
Davewilly Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Looks pretty good keep going the way your are...Dont try to super detail the first one.....your you might never finish it! Just build it the way you are comfortable with and try new stuff on the next one...one or two new things each one you build and you will be fine....atleaset it seems to work for me
Field_Artillery63 Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 Here was the final product guys. Started on a 65 chevy truck since then.
1 bad55 stan Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Very nice build Joshua,Welcome back to the hobby...
10thumbs Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Hi Joshua, first of all you get 10 extra points for choosing a Mopar for your first build! Is that BMF I see on the roof trim? I think it's all about the small details, do lots of them and it adds up to make a model more fun to look at for a longer time. As mentioned earlier, the casting lines on the motor halves are important, and as far as possible check every single piece for excess flash, then trim the stuff off before gluing, and afterward as well if any is left. I like the model, as time moves on you'll learn more and more. I have learned already lots of things right here on this forum. Good to have you around. Michael
Field_Artillery63 Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 No clear coat either. Just one coat.
