6bblbird Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Just finished this Tudor that I built for a friend of mine. He is building a 1:1 at this time. Not meant to be an exact replica but a "similar" car. I asked him what color the body would be....."flat black". O.k., the chassis?... "flat black". The engine?... "flat black". Let me guess on the interior....black vinyl? "Yep". Arrrrgh, too much black! The grille was blacked out with The Detailer wash. Came out pretty good. The cowl lamps are fog lights from the new Revell 'cuda because my carpet ate one of the kit parts! You can see the dust print on the door. Really hard to keep flat black clean! I'll wipe it down before delivery. The wide whites are something that I liked and felt necessary to contrast with all of that flat black. The window glass was a real p.i.t.a. as it kept popping out when stretching the body to fit over the interior tub. I had to reinstall them from outside the car after the tub was installed! You literally have to stretch the body almost to the breaking point to get that tub in. I forgot to install the tail lights and plate bracket before I mounted the body to the chassis! I was not going to try and pop that tub out again! I measured and drilled the holes on the almost completed car.I think that I got away with it. I'm glad that I wont have to look at this one anymore! I hope that he likes it! WF

The best flat I like is krylon short cuts. its almost a semi gloss or satin. if you dulcote flat black it take the handling better when built. You have a nice build...

Steven Zimmerman Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 I have found flat black resists fingerprints, and also is more durable, if you give it a flat clearcoat.....
