Jay Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I just finished this curbside build for one of my very good friends. He was a huge fan of this body style T-Bird & Bill Elliott. His dad also had a 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. I used a Monogram kit with Mike's decals...I forget the company. The contingencies are from the spare decals box. There are a few missing, but for the most part it's pretty accurate. The paint is all Tamiya, including the clear. it's a little too cold to be shooting 2 part around here. Enjoy!
kurth Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Looking good. Looks like you spent a lot of time getting the "look" right. The open holes in the wheels, and the tires really look great. Did you lower it a bit too?
Raul_Perez Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Jay, That really looks GREAT!! That was one of my favorite cars from the late 80's!! You really did the model justice!! Keep up the great work and the posts!!

Did you lower it a bit too? I actually didn't open the holes in the rims...it's a flat black wash inside the holes that gives it that illusion. I lowered the car by cutting off the wheel mounting posts from the front & rear suspensions & gluing the wheels directly to the spindles. I think this much more effective & a heck of a lot easier than trying to bring the body down lower.

I saw this precious little beauty somewhere else last night, and I must say I am very impressed, my friend. Question..the overflow tube is aluminum, correct? I was looking around for those decals for you, but never did find them. I was talking with Mike and he couldn't get them either... Jamie
