10thumbs Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) Hi Jim, I'm quite enthused about your project! You're right, I think hot rods/gassers is the way for me to proceed now, as there is no real set way you have to go, but many that you may go. About the windows/numbers. Others may correct me, but you could make it a "bracket car" by just putting on the window the lowest et the car would supposed to run. You pick this number yourself. Like in the case of a blown hemi in a street hot rod, "10.35" would probably work. Traction would probably be a problem, plus you would be banned from the drag strip when you go below 11 seconds. Your cage is insufficient. But who cares, one or two runs to see what it will do would be fun. Robert Edited May 26, 2014 by 10thumbs
Jim Whalen Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Hi, Thanks for your comments everyone - they are definitely appreciated! Light is starting to appear at the end of the tunnel for this project. The cab is now done, all the chassis needs is the wheelie bar to be attached and the last two pieces are being painted today. Here are a few pictures to update people:
Jim Whalen Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Getting close to being finished now - here are some progress pics. The back of the truck is finished: The engine is completed (the velocity stacks will be attached once the cab is in place - they are just sitting on the cargs just now): Here's a close up of the carbs that were taken from the Willys kit split and placed further apart on a plate so the Detail Master velocity stacks would fit (the assembly has been sprayed Alclad Steel with Alclad Aqua Clear): Should be in the 'under glass' section in the next few days! Cheers,
