VW93 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) The first complete model that I've built in over 15 years from when I started it. Previous builds have just been bodies that I used for 1/25 slot cars. Built as an early 60's hot rodders WIP drag car. Box stock except for the front tires which are from the Revell/Monogram '50 Ford PU. Paint is Krylon dark gray primer, gloss black chassis and gloss and flat red used for the engine, suspension and interior. Not show quality but looks good on the shelf. Pictures show a lot of faults, gives me some things to improve on in the next builds. I've tried a magnavisor but it didn't work well for me. Eyesight & lack of a steady hand at 60 years of age shows in certain places on the finished build. On the bench right now is an AMT '40 Ford sedan that I'm also building as an early 60's drag car. Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 It looks nice. A little black wash on the side grilles and some foil on the trim, and it will look very real.
1 bad55 stan Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Looks pretty sweet,I agree with Tulio,Still if i can still build as good as this when im 60 i'll be happy.
W-409 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 What Tulio said is pretty much everything it needs. Otherwise it's really nice build! I like these Vintage Drag Cars, and this one has the right look and feel. Really nice work, I can't wait to see more of your builds!
PARTSMARTY Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) it,s cool but the undercarriage needs attention!!!-and I'm 58-lol Edited March 23, 2014 by PARTSMARTY
VW93 Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Thanks for the kind comments and suggestions. Foiling & washes are on the list of future techniques to conquer.I'm starting a build thread on my next project as I've seen what was missed on this build from the final pictures.
VW93 Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 it,s cool but the undercarriage needs attention!!!-and I'm 58-lolYes, the undercarriage could use a little detailing. Right now I'm just trying to build some decent shelf models and work on fine tuning my builds. Thanks for pointing that out, it's going to help improve my builds (I hope).
Duntov Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Still one of my all time favorites--- thanks for building and sharing it!!!!
slusher Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Very nice build Frank. Gad your back building. I don't have a steady hand and I spray paint as much of the parts as possible and they look better...
