afx Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Haven't had much bench time but have got a little accomplished. The kit rear glass mounts from the inside. On the 1:1 car the glass installed from the outside. After filling the molded in glass bead I made a template of the opening and cut a piece of clear acetate for the glass. I then cut a piece of .010 styrene and trimmed it to be just smaller than the opening and glued it in place. The rear glass will now mount to the exposed lip around the opening. By correcting the glass installation I can now attach the engine cover to the rear body section as it should.
fitforbattle Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Man, I love these cars and this build looks beautiful. Keep it up!
afx Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 One of the most challenging aspects of this build is the air extractor in the nose of the car. Here is my attempt to recreate this complex shape. It not exactly like the 1:1 but its not bad.

afx Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 I tried to convince myself the cast in air extractor opening would be close enough but I just can't live with that. So I am in the process of reshaping these opening to better represent the '65 Le Mans car. The opening should by an equilateral right triangle with the leading edge extending forward past the top edge of the head lights. Of course this means also rebuilding the air extractor - sigh. Pictures soon.
afx Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) Here are the reshaped air extractor outlets (on the left). The old version is on the right. Here is the 1:1 for reference: Edited June 9, 2014 by afx
