For next time..spend a little more time with the 1000 grit. The polish won't cut the orange peel, only remove the fine scratches left from the previous stage. Not that it looks bad. Just saying.

I made a promise .....to myself and Tom (Amnesty buiid)

The governor came down to Leavenworth, at the last minute, and said, "Leave this one alone"....

So I did some things to get 'er closer to finishing..

moved the rad out to facilitate the installation of the engine

IMG_4531600x450_zps53433edf.jpg

Made my own shifter (kit on the right)

hurried interior ,...started

IMG_4541600x450_zpsce3b3aef.jpg

Some kind of Nascar hodgepodge rear end,... done

IMG_4540600x450_zps4e3d9884.jpg

Badging and lights...done

IMG_4542600x450_zpsbfc91734.jpg

Stripped the bumpers and they are getting the sink marks filled, then chromed

IMG_4539600x450_zpsef1c171c.jpg

Mock up with glass

IMG_4544600x450_zps4fbf2d96.jpg

Upholstery tack moonies

I started this as an experiment, to see if I could cut up a car body and get it back together for a paint finish,...This kit is a mess, old molds, terrible finish on parts,..bad fit,..etc.,..

but with alot of work it is coming together ok IMHO

Anywho it's almost off the bench (only took a year)

Looking good, If you get this done this year...LOL...just kidding. You should bring it to the Sept show in Toronto, would love to see in person. Thanks great build.

Pretty little '55, but just for the next time, replacing the dry sump pan with a stock type one, and moving the engine back a tad so the distributor is closer to the firewall, and then you can take the oil pump drive belt off and move the water pump drive belts etc. back closer to the front of the engine and then all you'd need to do is put the radiator on the front side of the core support without having to cut it up. And if that engine came from a Revell stock car kit it's 1/24 scale and one of the SB 2 engines from an AMT kit would be a little easier to put in, until I noticed the dry sump pan and drive I thought you were going with a big block, then I saw the typical small block exhaust layout too and figured out what you were doing, great job.
