Nick W.
I have a question. Does anyone know the correct scale of the diecast 1960 Gmc, that Speccast made?
AzTom
I have some photos of mine when it was unpacked. I did not scale it but it looked like 1/25 scale. SpecCast sold it as 1/25 and from my experience with SpecCast they normally run correct. Sorry I can't be of more help.
scale trucker
1/25 i hope that will help
Nick W.
I have one and it looks smaller than the amt 1960 Chevrolet truck kit or smaller than an amt 88-98 shortbed chassis that i compared it to! If its exactly 1/25 than my stepside idea just might work!
AzTom
Dude, if you have one in your hands scale it out and tell us.
Nick W.
Whats the best way to scale it out? Do I measure the wheelbase?
Nick W.
Ok from the top of the front fender, to the end of the bed, it measures out 7 inches.
AzTom
Nick, you case use any measurement that you can find on the real truck. The wheel base is probably the easiest to find but overall length should be on-line. You can multiply the 7 in by 25 (1/25 scale) and get 175 inches. If the truck is true to 1/25 scale it should match the real trucks overall dimension for that year. You can do the same with the wheel base measured from center to center of the wheels. Hope that helps.
Nick W.
I measured the truck and the wheelbase! The scale is about 1/25th.
Nick W.
The wheelbase measured out to 4 5/8 inches, so i calculated that to be 112.5 scale inches,
AzTom
Nick, 4 5/8 in would = 4.625 x 25 = 115.625 in. I do think that would be correct for the 1/25 scale.
Nick W.
Thanks, I appreciate everything! I think my plan of using a step side box could possibly work.
unclescott58
Nick, I too have one of these SpecCast '60 GMCs. And it looks a little small to me. I've not done any measurements on mine. Or put it up against other 1/25 scale Chevys. But just looking at it, it looks small. Still I like mine. Mine is a GMC Parts and Service truck. Nick, please let us see your conversion to the stepside when you get it done. Heck, I'd like to see pictures of it as you do the conversion. Danno
I wanna see too! Me, too! Love those old 60-66 Chevy/GMC trucks.
Nick W.
I am still trying to figure out if its gonna work or not! Might have to get a speccast 55-57 chevy stepside for the box! It looks too small in scale to use a styrene stepside box.
