mikevillena Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Hello to all. It's been twenty or so years since I've worked on 1/24th scale model cars. Like most I once had a literal closet full of model car kits that took me ages to collect. Some like several IMC Chaparrals & GT 40's along with a case of Lancer slot car bodyshells and Cox IFC 2E & 2D slotcars were utterly irreplaceable. Unfortunately, life and job changes forced the sale of everthing so I'm having to start over. Anyway, I'm glad to have found this forum and I am so inspired by so many highly skilled modellers and their craftwork. I guess I'll have to start building the collection again only this time I resolve to build every kit to completion
High octane Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Build every kit to completion? That's a TALL order as a lot of us have enough kits for two or three lifetimes. Welcome to the forum Michael.

Welcome to the forum Michael. Thanks High octane...... I know, I know. Just as easily doeable as my resolve of building it completely "box stock" eveytime I open the kit box for the first time.
PappyD340 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 WELCOME to the forum Michael, and back to the hobby!
mikevillena Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 Hey thanks guys! I've been checking out model kits on line and I'm on the fence as to which one to buy; Minicraft's 1/16th scale MGTC or Airfix's big Bentley. If I go with the MG-TC I would like to convert it to an Airline Coupe (a LOT of work). I'm also going to have to pull my old workbench back together and stock up on supplies. This is so much fun!
mikevillena Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 MIchael, welcome to the forum. Thanks Lee!
jrherald420 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Welcome to the site! If i dont buy another kit and i keep up with building 10 kits a year, i will not run out till i hit 41 (im 32 right now). That does not include the 10 kits i have started right now. lol Build what makes you happy and strive to become a better modeler and you will stay happy!

I'm 55 and if I forgot about the 30 odd unfinished projects I intend to finish, and I build ten kits a year, I'd have to live to be 255 years old to finish them all! Then again, I probably buy 25-50 kits a year so I fall further behind every year.

jaftygas Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Welcome to the forum Mike, love your work so far. For a guy just getting back into modeling you sure did retain some good tricks. I wished I knew more on computers I would take a picture of a 1976 Harley police bike I built, it's a 1/6 scale Tamiya. One of the only kits remaining in my done collection, Because of cats, a house fire, curios children and well life. I would not have room for them all anyway. I'll try to get more savvy and get pic's out. Cheers, jaftygas.
