John Pol Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) Where would I get this hood scoop, detailed 429 motor for this? And what would be the best color to do the body. Any help would be great. John Pol Edited April 22, 2014 by John Pol
AC Norton Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 make one from plastic sheet.,,,,,,or, the only kinda-sorta one I remember is in the mpc early 80s re issue 71 mach 1 kits. it also probably is in other later mpc re issues of the mach as well. ....easier and cheaper to make one......the ace..
turbo nova Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) the polar lights Richard Petty torino talladega reissue has a boss nine in it in 1/25 scale the revell boss nine mustang is an option as well Edited April 22, 2014 by turbo nova
booboo60 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I may have the spoiler for the back, maybe a boss mustang, aftermarket valve covers, SBC scale modeling, will help ya. Heck, u can buy the whole motor race ready there.
John Pol Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Thanks for response guys I was wondering does this scoop look like the one I need
tubbs Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 yes, its a boss scoop with a little added to the bottom to raise it up. nice subject. do you have that year cougar?
John Pol Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 well I have most the cougar using the super cat cougar from MPC with missing link 70 hood and center piece for the grill. And thanks for your response Al.
gtx6970 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Cool subject. I have the same car on my todo list. BUT, I havn't been able to find any underhood or interior pictures . Wasn't this car one of the 2 factory built Boss 9 cars built ? And If memory serves me right is still unaccounted for ,, I have several pics of a restored car but I think its a clone. Are the wheels avail in 1/25th scale ? I have a MPC 1970 Cougar builder as a basis for mine. If I could find some more info on the car mine might come closer to the ft of the list
John Pol Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 The rims you find on ebay the odd time. I do have detail shoots of the car if need them just send me your email address. All I know is he used a 69 body with a 70 front end clip. John Pol
John Pol Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 Dyno Don had the other cougar whitch had also the 429 init
freakshow12 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I know where one cougar is. It was found in 3 pieces in 3 locations. Currently under restoration. This wAs from the owners mouth last sept. The cars were 69s and this yellow one got the 70 front end so the 69 cougar interior would be correct.
turbo nova Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 heres the cars facebook page, some decent shots,https://www.facebook.com/groups/280417496317/photos/ the 70 revell boss mustang I listed earlier has an optional dual quad tunnel ram in the kit that looks like a decent start to match the cars photos, the polar lights kit is only a single four single plane
ScaleDale Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 John Kasse Racing Engines builds BOSS 9 engines today. According to his site, they were available in 69 and 70 Mustangs and "Two special Cougars" Link: http://www.jonkaaseracingengines.com/component/content/article/217-jon-kaase-custom-built-boss-nine-and-p-51-engines.html Dale
afxmustang Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Scale Modeling By Chris has the wheels. I would use the scoop from the MPC 71 Mustang. I believe that kit also had a Boss 429 engine in it. The best engine would be from the Jo Han Comet pro stock.
John Pol Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 all I need to do is get the scoop a motor from one of the johan kits and find what would be the closest color to the car thx for the response Karl and everybody else.
Bill Edman Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 tamiya ts-34 camel yellow should be close to that yellow
