curt raitz Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) I just picked up a re-issue of the MPC "The Malco Gasser" My question is: What color is the car? The Ditzler Color chart for a 1967 Ford Mustang list 4 blue colors B 12876 Frost Turquoise F 12854 Arcadian Blue Q 12843 Brittany Blue Poly W 13073 Clearwater Aqua Poly After looking at photos of the car, it could be any one of them... but I think it's either the Frost Turquoise or Arcadian Blue any thoughts on which one it can be Jameston at Scalefinishes has all of them available thanx Edited May 3, 2014 by curt raitz
Mike Kucaba Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 When I saw it in 1967 at a car show in Chicago, It was light blue, but with a very coarse metalflake and fogging in dark blue around the wheel wells. It may have been a Ford color as a base, but it looked custom to me. Someone joked that it was "Easter Bunny Blue metalflake
Brett Barrow Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I doubt it's a stock Mustang color. It appears to be a silver-blue in most photos with blue fogging around the wheel wells as mentioned above plus fogging around the door handles and a bright solid blue on the taillight panel. On Slixx' decal sheet they just call for Silver Blue. GMP's diecast was more of a turquoise color and didn't look quite right. Lots of good pics here: http://public.fotki.com/VincePutt/drag_racing/gassers/ohiogeorgemontgomer/
High octane Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 MCW has the color listed for the Malco as Light Metalflake Blue and in aerosol # 2631 Light Blue Metallic. That's what I ordered and that's what color I'm paintin' mine.
curt raitz Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 For those interested... Just found out - Scale Finishes has paint for the Malco Express Mustang, both colors for $12.50 plus shipping
