mnwildpunk Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Anybody have a step by step they could offer up on how to build scale removable fender skirts?
mnwildpunk Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 I think I have a plan to make then using sheet plastic but I haven't quite figured out how to make like a clip to make them removable. I think I have a idea of using a pin and a piece of tubing the pin can slide into. It wouldn't be 100% realistic but it also wouldn't be seen
Force Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Why would you want them to be removable...I mean it's on a model and how often do you think you will take them off? But if you want them to be removable just take a look at how real ones are attached on the particular car in question and you will probably get an idea how to do this, but there are as many attachment setups as there are manufacturers of fender skirts. mnwildpunk Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 I want them to be removable depending on the mood/look I want at the time
southpier Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 tiny rare earth magnet buried in the fender & spot of metal on the skirt? I think this is how Mr O keeps his doors closed.
mnwildpunk Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Thank you that is a muxh better idea then what I had rolling around in myhead. Btw force by re reading my post I sound a bit snippy it wasn't meant to be that way
Bernard Kron Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I use Ambroid Tac 'n' Place for my removable bodywork panels. It's a temporary adhesive that's quite strong.A thin coat will do the job. I choose a surface where the adhesive contact is hidden. Panels can be applied and removed many times before it loses grip. Any residue on the facing surface is removable with water. It sets tacky but clear.
