Ever notice how often Freightliner FLD120's, Classic Xl's, etc, are missing grill bars?

If I ever model a well used Freightshaker, I'm going to have to model this:

It is such a common thing, I nearly chuckle every time I see it.

Thats why theyre called freightshakers, they shake everything apart. That is a very common sight here in so cal, or the grill gone all together. Doesnt make sense why, there is plenty of these trucks in scrap yards and salvage yards all over. It would drive me up the wall if my truck was missing ANYTHING

look how clean and maintained that truck looks, might give a clue to why its like it is.It probably has close to 2 million miles on it.Those bars are held on with a rivet that in time will corrode ,the alum bar corrodes and whammo the bar is loose.Nothing to do with the brand of truck.

The grille on my buddy Mike's 120 looked like that toward the end of its useful life- a 70 MPH deer hit finished the job a year or two before he finally "retired" it, at which point it had a super stylish winter cover/window screen ensemble in the opening. The thing was in great mechanical shape, but Mike never was much for putting on appearances when it came to that Freightliner.

Not trying to knock Freightliner, but it just seems to be something that doesn't hold up on these particular models and brand of truck. Plus, the companies running these old fleet trucks today don't care to replace them. It doesn't benefit them economically. But, that's why I really appreciate the pride most O/O's (and fleets) take in their truck's appearance.

That's true- I've seen at least one Ford L-Series with the same condition...

And at least one other type of Freightliner with more than just a loose bar...
