Pim Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) I've recently being losing motivation for model building so I decided to do this as a fun build to get the fun back. it started life as a revell 79 mustang that I bought cheap without the bonnet/hood it stood on my shelf for ages until the other day I tried my first go at denting. The hood is from chevy diecast and fits the look of the car perfectly. comments and constructive criticism welcomed sorry for crappy pics taken on mobile phone Edited June 26, 2014 by Pim
Lanny Haas Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 sounds like a fun project. pretty much do as you like. I dont like making dents from heat, the just dont look right. I grind the inside of the body, to make the plastic thin than make a dent using your finger or a table edge, you can also grind the oudside of the body to make dents, just grind and sand grind marks away. be creative.
gwolf Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Idea of a derby car sounds great. I've found that a big glob of tube cement will soften up door panels enough to push an object into them.
rmvw guy Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Good medicine for getting back into the hobby, I have to do one similar every once in a while, always seems to work.

Pim Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Finished this morning really like how it turned out. Was originally going to go with a V8 but decided to use the original 4 cylinder engine with slight modifications. The only nod to safety is the seat. I already have another one in the build which is a 1969 chevelle Hope you guys like it
Brizio Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Good start! Looks also a lot of fun built a derby car.
Pim Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Began work on the chevelle today I added a rear tire with more grip and for the front a set of steelies from the parts box. I will probably not dent this car.
