Lucas van H Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I'm starting with my first build here on the forums. I've chosen tghe AMT Chevy Nova Pro Street for this one. I will try to make a brass chassis for this one, which I'm drawing up now. Not sure on the interiour since I want to put a lot more effort in this one than I did in my previous models. Body is painted, so it's all about trying to figuring out how to do the chassis. I'm using 2mm brass tube and some sheet for the wheel wells, is there a bending tool that can bend 2mm tubes? If not, is there another way? Pictures of the body: Not sure about polishing since I have never done that before. Thanks for looking. Lucas.

Lucas van H Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Thanks ScaleDale! I'm gonna look for some of those here in the Netherlands!
Lucas van H Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Tried to solder a bit, didn't turn out too bad IMHO (Note: First time soldering) This is the stance I'm looking for, let's see if I can make it happen: As you can see, Everything lines up pretty good, it's far from perfect, but I'm really pleased with it: Lucas.
10thumbs Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Hi Lucas, the car is looking right! How did you solder the joints, electric or flame? Michael
Lucas van H Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 I soldered with a flame, my soldering iron isn't strong enough. I'll upload some more pictures tonight. Lucas.
1 bad55 stan Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Great start Lucas, you are definitely on the right track, keep us posted,,,,
10thumbs Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 OK. I was in my hobby shop today looking at I-Beam material for a hot rod I'm going to build. I want to make a dropped axle for the front. I'm interested inips for soldering. I have a flame unit as well. Michael
Lucas van H Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 I've done some more work on this, chassis is soldered and I have removed the wheeliebar due to it's instability and it being a bit crude. Test fit: Since I wasn't able to achieve the stance I was going for, I opted for this: More to come... Lucas. Excuse me for the blurry pictures, the camera on my phone is acting up.
Speedfreak Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Looks pretty cool Lucas, keep it going! That soldering looks good.
Lucas van H Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Thanks a bunch guys! The soldering looks good from a distance and not everything is straight, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. Lucas.
futurattraction Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Keep up the steady progress Lucas! It's looking good...
Lucas van H Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Got this done today: Installed the interior, used a donor AMT Oldsmobile 442 from which I also took the engine, Rear wheel wells are from the Nova kit but cut out from the original chassis and trimmed to fit: As you can see, I already painted the chassis in the color of the body. Mockup shot how the engine fits: Also, I didn't have to cut a hole in the middle of the hood for the blower, and it still closes : That's it, Lucas.
1 bad55 stan Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 i like the stance, its lookin great, that blue is real nice, what is that paint you used?
Lucas van H Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 I used Humbrol Baltic Blue, layed down 2 wetcoats followed by 7 layers of clear. Thanks for the compliment!
Lucas van H Posted July 5, 2014 Author Posted July 5, 2014 Thanks, now that I look at the photo's again, there are a couple things that I need to fix like the firewall and the floor behind the drivers seat. Next time I'm going to buy a bit of that BMF stuff I see on the cars you guys build. Gives it just that more "bling". Lucas.-
