HotRodaSaurus Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) Hi all, my name is John, 48 y/o & I have been into model cars since my earliest days in modeling. Started out with the military stuff as I was brought up on stories of WII etc. Then I discovered Rommel's Rod and Hot Rod magazine. I build mainly 'kurbside slammers' or hot rods with minmum superdetailing, not that I cannot but I like to display my models with doors, hoods, shut etc. also I'm too eager to see the finished model. Well I have not built for a couple of years due to personal family issues but lurk and post on a few boards including Tom Carters Spotlite and any with a friendly outlook. Got a few half builts so there is something to pick up on one day just hope the skill has not gone. I always admire anyones effort from kiddie built glue bombs(because we have all been there) to the most fantastic super detailed show winner(if only I had time) so no one will get a downer from me! Oh did you wonder about 'HotRodaSaurus'? my tag, I sell old car mags(from the Jurassic age) but not usualy on ebay Thanks, John Edited November 16, 2015 by HotRodaSaurus free up pic space
HotRodaSaurus Posted January 8, 2008 Author Posted January 8, 2008 Thanks for the welcome. As soon as I get myself sorted I shall post some pics of my builds etc. Now I shall search my pic files and see if there is anything in there to contribute. Thanks again, John
locoengr Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I really like your display John. It is fun to see how when all different things from a certain "era", etc, are used together like this. I too, am your age, and within the last year got back into building after being "away from the hobby" for over 30 years...about the time I got my drivers license and discovered girls. The changes to the hobby over the years are nothing short of amazing! Plus, the loads of talent that are shown on this site.....WOW! Sure is a relaxing hobby, especially with a two year old daughter/hurricane terrorizing our home! Welcome from another new guy and enjoy! Brice in Fargo
Raul_Perez Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Welcome, John!! I also build military models, primarily 1/35th scale WWII stuff. I also build some Sci-Fi stuff, mostly SF3D and Star Wars kits.
Gregg Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 e komo mai! :-) Enjoy the forum, you are among your peers here! Even though you're a year older, I won't hold that against you :-) I do like the display also! Looks like it could be one of Jairus' covers :-)
HotRodaSaurus Posted January 9, 2008 Author Posted January 9, 2008 (edited) Thanks for all the welcomes and also the positives to my display. I'm really a kind of messy guy so everything has no particular order.I ride an old BSA A65 as a hobby bike and lust after the 1960 Cadillac I once had(resto project), hence all the Cadillac models in the 1st post pic.Thought you might like to look at my former work area, a bit of a jumble but everything has its place(ha ha)Thanks, John Edited November 16, 2015 by HotRodaSaurus free up pic space
JAFFA Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Hi and welcome to the forum! Your stuff is looking good, and i happened to notice ya got the Lincoln Futura built there, i'd love to see pics of that someday!
HotRodaSaurus Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) As soon as everything comes out of storage I will post some model pix. The futura is a companion piece to a Revell/Futura conversion Batmobile. Thanks, J Edited January 10, 2008 by HotRodaSaurus
Harry P. Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I like the chick parked on the Caddy's hood! Welcome aboard!
HotRodaSaurus Posted January 12, 2008 Author Posted January 12, 2008 There are a couple of nicely proportioned figures in the Futura kit where this girl model comes from, the guy is wearing a tux oddly. John
