Jaguar man 21 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I started work on modding the body so it looks like the real car sorry about the putty mess I'm using the testors kind I'm going to buy the tamiya kind to see if it works better
Byron5150 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Tamiya's kind works phenomenally, I don't do it much, but for the times I've used it works great!
slusher Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I have used Testors paint all my life but Tamiya is real good paint and I have been using it more...
Byron5150 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Tamiya's paints better than any spray paint I've ever owned especially smooth finish almost everytime. Even if your not good at spraying you'll get even coverage. But as for PUTTY Tamiya's putty is great. I'm not a Tamiya finattic but everything I've gotten from them, models, glue, paint, putty, sanding stuff, polish, tools etc work awesome!! Cheers,
MustangGuy23 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Any chance you'll cast this body when you've completed the transformation? I would love to have a couple of these, but I don't have the skills to convert it.
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 All I did was fill in the rear mustang letters and lower diffuser with putty it's actually pretty simple I thought it would be hard but it wasn't
MustangGuy23 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I could do the back end, but the front will require more modification to make a Cobra.
freakshow12 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 The back will take a lot more than just filling the diffuser. I look foreword to seeing how you tackle all the stuff that makes a terminator. I plan to do one also
66belair Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I like where this is going,I wish there were more versions of this body style Mustang. Can't wait to see more.
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 The front end is very close I don't know if I'm going to modify it or not I'll try to change the lower grill possibly
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 Thanks guys this is my first major scratchbuilt model thank you for the support
MustangGuy23 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Look at a more side angle of the 03-04s. The foglight bezel sticks out quite a bit.
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 Yeah i just saw that I could try some styrene tubing
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 I've got a huge putty mess on the body right now after work today I'll try to make SOMTHING of it
freakshow12 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Yes the front bumpers are nothing alike. A side view says it all. Rocker panels will be the easiest parts to make
JTalmage Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Then the C pillars are shaped a bit different as well. Dunno why an '03-'04 hasnt been produced... mega popular car.....
freakshow12 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Yes. The cobra, mach 1 and bullitt all shared the c pillar trim. All that is needed is a sliver of styrene to make the leading edge match the back edge of the side scoop
66belair Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Any idea what color you are going with? I'm partial to the yellow or orange that was available. I loves this when they came out. I was working at a Ford car dealer at that time.
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 My dream cobra is white but I think orange might work
freakshow12 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Comp orange rocks. In 03 I ordered a mystichrome 04 convertible. It arrived in feb 04. I went in to pick it up on a blustery -35 day. I had a deal done when I ordered it and left a deposit. Deal was for msrp and not a penny more. I get there with my trailer and they inform me since it was such a special color and they only were allowed to get one coupe and one convertible that they needed a 10k price adjustment. I said no way and got my deposit back and went home. Worked out though since I took an 03 mach 1 off their hands. I then got my 07 Shelby out of Arizona brand new since I found it there with no markup on price. And I got my 14 Shelby for sticker as well. I will still get my 04 cobra at some point. Lol
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 I'm verrrrrrrrrrrrry jelous of your 1:1 cars I need to save up for my first car already got a few in mind
MustangGuy23 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Terminators are my dream cars. I want an 03 Mystichrome and an 04 Comp Orange. Most people want a Ferrari or Lambo. I want those.
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 It's my dream ford for shure my dream car is still a series 1 e type in brg
freakshow12 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Terminators are my dream cars. I want an 03 Mystichrome and an 04 Comp Orange. Most people want a Ferrari or Lambo. I want those. FYI. Mystichrome and comp orange were both 04 only colors
MustangGuy23 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 FYI. Mystichrome and comp orange were both 04 only colors I did know this, but I'd like to build/restore them and not just buy shiny show cars. Although I'd be hated by many for painting an 03 Mystichrome.
