Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Yea, I can't seem to keep focused on one build... Decided to do this one.. It may not be an exact GS, but I'll be happy with it.. Pic for inspiration... It won't be the same color as this... The kit... Filled in the tach... Tires from the AMT 69 Hurst Olds... Wheels are from the kit and I stripped the chrome... Started the interior... Hood in primer... Wheels painted... I'm debating on mildy very mildly weathering this one or not.. Thinking a satin color with some scuffing here and there...
freakshow12 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Good start. I am a big fan of the GS and bigger fan of the GSX.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 Thanks guys... Got the body in primer, and black washed the wheels...
DynoMight Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Looks good, what color are you going to paint it? Like the one in the photo in your first post?
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 Glenn, I've got a darker blue I may use... Or a green... , deciding between the two..
microwheel Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Hi James, I remember doing this kit many years ago not long after it was first released. I did a skylark conversion with a vinyl top. Got it all finished, and set in on the dining table to take pics of it, and my kid came home from shcool and dropped his schoolbooks on it. Killed it like a bug! I always thought about doing another one, but for some reason just never had the heart for it after that. Cant wait to see how yours turns out. Nice start so far.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 On its way to the paint booth ... Hi James, I remember doing this kit many years ago not long after it was first released. Man that's horrible... Hope you build another one...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) A bit darker than planned, but it's still close to one of the factory colors... Once it quits raining, I will spray the hood... Edited July 15, 2014 by Wonderbread Kustomz
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Thanks, it's oxford blue... Krylon...
slusher Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I have started using some Krylon and Rustoleum colors lately...thanks
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Yea, I like their paints... Some of them lay out real nice... My favorite is Sun yellow, which I'm definitely grabbing another can of that...
slusher Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 The Bright Idea yellow is really good also. Do you clear any of it??
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Carl, most of the time I'll just polish out the paint...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Got some clear on... I got a little bit of trash in the trunk area, but I think I can polish it out... If not, I can live with it...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 In the tank it goes... I'll give a few days and then take it out and start over on the paint...
slusher Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Sorry to hear its in the tank James. What happened...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 The clear I used wrinkled a bit...

slusher Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) The clear I used wrinkled a bit... Man I hate to hear that. Build was going good. I have been there with the same problem.... Edited July 18, 2014 by slusher
