o0StatiK Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Well, after 10 long years, I'm finally back into this hobby. Little back story. I used to build model cars back in 8th grade, but I never dabbled with painting them. I never took it seriously and would up just putting the models together with white, unpainted parts and the decals. I was too young and artistically challenged then. Plus, all the places that used to carry model cars stopped carrying them. My parents were against buying ANYTHING online (old timers. Afraid of getting hacked nearly instantly.) Now I've grown up a bit, and a Hobby Lobby opened near me. I told my fiancee we're going. Lucky, she has her own hand-made craft business so it was right up her alley. Picked up some paints and a few models. '67 Corvette Convertible, '68 Firebird (Foose Design) and while it's not a car, picked up a Skill 3 U.S.S Constitution from Revell. SAD WARNING: My father was working on the same exact U.S.S. Constitution before he passed away back in 2006. I never had the heart to work on it after since he was always picky about how it looked, and I never thought it would look the way he wanted it. It sat around for a few years before my Mother and I decided to toss it. I will be building that for him. Since I'm not paranoid about buying online. Do you have any site recommendations for models/supplies?
slusher Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Welcome Joe to the forum and back to modeling. I use Model Roundup.com and Testors website for what I need online...
Foxer Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Welcome back to the hobby, Joe. I also use Model Roundup. For Japanese kits and supplies I usually go to Hobby Search. I've bought many tools from Micro Mark. There are many dealers online but these I've always had good luck with.
Petetrucker07 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Plastic-models.com is a decent 1. Its tower hobbies plastic site. Hobbylinc.com has some good deals, and of course ol' evil bay, ive gotten quite a few good deals on there. Keep your eyes open on here, there might be some possible trades and deals for parts. This is a really friendly forum full good people.
o0StatiK Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 Thanks everyone! Feels great to finally get back into it. I assume with Hobby Search I can pay the USD? I also assume the shipping will be higher, and take a lot longer to get here.

It will take a bit more time but things still come amazingly fast and is a bit more cost. I use it mostly for things I can't get anywhere else.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some classic American Muscle, but my dream car has to be a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34.
DynoMight Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 If you're looking for cars mostly, Round2 (who owns AMT MPC and more) has a website. They're usually good cars. Here's their website http://round2models.com/ Welcome back. I usually just buy from a hobby shop but sometimes I buy from online. I mostly use EvilBay (E-bay, that's what we call it around here because of some evil people who don't ship their stuff, ) My tip is to get a airbrush and compressor. It's a really good investment. And also take your time. And have fun! Welcome to the MCM family!
