I hesitate to "announce" that I've started a 1965 Lotus Cortina as it usually takes me a long time to finish. In any case I obtained a resin body & chassis from a fellow in Finland awhile back. He doesn't include this item in his "catalog" as the mold is old and my copy needs a lot of work to fit. I knew this ahead of time but it's almost impossible to find this body style in 1/24 scale.

I want to replicate Jim Clark's 1965 Lotus Cortina so have to make a new dash as the supplied one is on the wrong side. Since the hood opens, I intend to include the twin cam from the Gunze Lotus Elan kit as well as using parts from the Elan and Tamiya Lotus Super Seven kits (plus some scratchbuilt pieces) to finish.

I shall post some photos soon and as I progress.

Me too!

I saw a resin Lotus Cortina built up at show, the guy used the Mk2 Esci/Revell Ford Escort as a doner kit, although the BDA engine isn't quite correct, it's pretty close. They're hard to come by these days, I actually got my one from Canada! LOL

I am all eyes too!

there was a stack of those clear view Escorts at the clearance store one time, I bought three as I recall but should have grabbed more. really nice minilite style wheels, that BDR motor is decent and lots of little race stuff and suspension etc.

if you happen to need any of the Escort parts, let me know and maybe I can supply them. I have thoroughly pilfered the kits over the years but you never know.

that elan twin cam motor is excellent too by the way and Mini-Exotics used to sell a resin or white metal version at one time if you don't want to loot your high-tech kit. don't know if they are still around but you see them on ebay time to time.

Another source for the Lotus Twin Cam would be the Tamiya Europa. They are pretty common and are themselves perfect candidate for engine swap.
