freakshow12 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Fred the camera makes it look brighter than what it is. Thought so. I find even black flocking looks funny in pictures if the camera hits it wrong
Mopar - D Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Well I just could not keep the yellow tint tried some sanding but it was not going to cut it so I got out the brake fluid and have started removing clear coat and paint to start over with it.
freakshow12 Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I have great results with Tamiya paints coated with testors wet look clear. But myself on solid colors like white I will add an extra color coat and just polish. No clear
slusher Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Did you get a reaction to Tamiya paint with Testors clear??
Mopar - D Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Fred I was there but decided to clear coat and now I'm back getting ready to do it again but with out the clear coat. Carl I used model master white and cleat coat no reaction between them just a yellow tint.
Mopar - D Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Got the body all cleaned up now and going to start on redoing the front and rear valences. I'm going to detail the front this time before I paint and cover it for painting.
my80malibu Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Garbriel They included the correct PE handles I just didn't include them in the picture. Good for that! They kind of have the same Issue with the Edelbrock Valve cover Script for the Ford Engines. Hopefully they can rectify that at some Point.
slusher Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Dan enamel clear especially testors will yellow. sorry you have to redo it...
Mopar - D Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Looking forward to the long weekend to get this one finished up.
Mopar - D Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Today's update I changed the carpet color added some pedals. Also sprayed the body again. No clear coating this time.
ChrisPflug Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 It would normally be in the 1:1 Maybe something custom in the works for the model Sweet. Is the console not interior color ?
Mopar - D Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 For the black console it should of been the burnt orange but my story is that this is a late model year build and the factory ran out of the burnt orange and used a black one instead. I've heard things like that happened.
Mopar - D Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Installed the front grill and installed the vinyl top. Here's some pictures of it test fitted together. I'm waiting on the white to cure before sanding and buffing out.
slusher Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Looking so good Bob. Wanted to ask you how many coats of enamel you put on this time???
Mopar - D Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Carl I used Model Master white lacquer. I'm not sure how many coats it turned out to be I used a bout 3/4 of an oz in the air brush. I just kept applying several light coats.
Mopar - D Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Updates added BMF around the top and placed the stripe on the sides.
