Get a big sheet of white paper (or thin posterboard). Put the garbage can up against the side of the house. Tape the top of the paper to the house, let the lower part form a curve and sit on the garbage can lid. Place model on the horizontal part of the paper that's sitting on the garbage can lid.

No more garbage can, no more wiring on the side of the house, no problems with a "bad neighborhood" or being a renter or any physical problems you have.

Okay, well as per some people suggested, I shot some photos using a piece of poster board as a background. In fact Harry, cheapskate me actually spent five whole bucks on the thickest one they had. Turned out to be a smart choice though, 'cause when it's taped in place it can actually support the model, giving me more surface to snap the pics on. This wouldn't work too well if I decide to build a semi, and heaven knows it's not gonna work in winter when it's thirty below and tape doesn't stick to anything. But it's definitely workable this time of year.

Even with overcast skies, I think these pictures came out alright. I'd like to try it with a little more sunlight, but I don't we're gonna see the yellow ball today.

Huge improvement using the poster board ! Now your car is the real centre of attention, and subsequently looks even better than before! Now I have to try the same thing! The car looks brilliant!

It's still a beautiful model , and the photography looks much better ! :D

You can try it indoors using an inexpensive work light , the kind with a bare bulb and an aluminum reflector ( about $5 at Home Depot ) .

Thanks, guys. I definitely see an improvement. In fact if we get some sun tomorrow, I might just bring my ' 62 Sunliner outside and grab a few shots. I'd like to see it on the white background, as well. As for indoors, I have such a light just as you described, TooOld. It's not only my worklight, but I use it for indoor photography as well. It's still too dark in here, regardless of where in the house I shoot to get a decent shot, unless I use the flash. I still prefer outdoor lighting, and even when I took pics on the hood of the car, if the sun was in just the right spot, the lighting was absolutely perfect.

Right now, I'm painting the hood of my ' 65 Galaxie re-issue. Found a gold that looks like a factory match!
