Removing embossing powder

I'm doing the interior of a 49 merc and used embossing powder to simulate carpeting and this also my first attempt at simulating carpeting so after I applied the powder and shook the excess off it looked clumpy and I wasn't happy with the results I got. I brushed on flat white to make the powder stick. I'm not sure what I did wrong and now I want to try to remove it if its possible now that the paint has dried. Also as an after thought I was thinking maybe I didn't brush on the paint evenly or allow it dry enough before removing the excess. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can remove it and what is the best way to apply it again. All suggestion are welcome.

Acrylic, enamel? Acrylic is water based and 91 % alcohol will remove it.

if you used testors model master enamels a soak in the purple pond (Super Clean, Purple Power etc) should take it off.

what I think you might have done wrong is used a flat paint instead of a gloss. a gloss will take longer to dry than the flat. it sounds to me like maybe you had thin and thick spots of paint and it really stuck to the thick spots and not to the thin areas. using the gloss paint and also trying to apply it a little more evenly ought to straighten out the problem. if the gloss sheen still shows up and you don't like it, give it an overcoat of testors Dullcote.

I have never used embossing powder. any tips on low cost/low shipping suppliers?
