booboo60 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Hello! Sweet looking Stang! Is the new release that came out about a month or 2? thanks
freakshow12 Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Thanks. It is the new drag lx I have several of the first release too I really only used the cowl hood, tubular k member and wheels from the new one though
wayne swayze Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Terrific paint work! Doesn't get better! And look at that engine.....WOW!! This looks like a home run to me.
1hobby1 Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 the paint is awesome!!!!! I like how glossy it is!
Devilsnake98 Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 All is looking good. Is that motor from the 2010 gt500? The 07 has different coil covers and I like the ones you have.
freakshow12 Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 It's the 07 engine with the covers painted blue like the later ones. Here is a little shot with the hood on
slusher Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Awesome progress Fred, cage looks great and wheels, tires and stance also look great as well..
Belair2k Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Beautiful finish and nice details. Where did the hood and tires come from? TIA
Dragfreak Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I am loving how this is turning out, it makes me want to go pick up the new drag version!
microwheel Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 This is really looking good Fred. I used that same engine and a few other drive train parts from the 07 in a 60 ford starliner restomod I did awhile back. I posted it in the under glass section back in the early summer. The 07 engine should really make your build stand out.
freakshow12 Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 Thanks guys. Jim, I saw that project you did and love it! Should have some updates today. Got wrangled into helping a buddy shingle today : (. Paying me with steak and beer so.... Lol. I got the front end set up and got the stance I was looking for. I went stock k member but modified it quite a bit. I like the look of the kit tubular piece but it's fiddly and to get the stance I wanted required a ton of work with a sacrifice in strength. Also from my 1:1 experience with tubular k members on a street car they are not so fun. Noisy, unstable on bad streets and just generally scary. Maybe the new ones are better but I'm not sold on them as my cars are 90/10 split between street and drag strip. Oh , driving on skinnys up front is a whole new game in itself. Lol
FASTBACK340 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 A former co-worker had an LX in that color with polished Centerlines. Sweet color in-person. Great stance and styling choices you've made.
tyrone Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Fred you are doing a bang up job on this build buddy... I love it... I have picked up a couple of these drag versions too,,, going to do an outlaw 10.5 and maybe another one similar to this... the color is banging on this one... where did you get the paint....
freakshow12 Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Thanks guys. Tyrone, the paint is dupli color touch up paint in a spray can
Jeremy Jon Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Looks awesome Fred! Love the stance, and can't go wrong with a teal notchback, slammed, with meats and Welds!!
freakshow12 Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Bit of an update, having multiple bodies sure saves paint! Mini tubs are in, all trimming of rear seat and interior panels complete, trans crossmember is in, final engine placement is set. It's really starting to come together now. The paint can start to fly once I fab up headers and full exhaust including the trademark lx tailpipes but in full 3".
freakshow12 Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Oh, and yes the wheels went a bit wonky but no worries they will all be straight when it's done. Just a little slop in the factory mounting pins
freakshow12 Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Spent some time making exhaust before my riders beat Hamilton today It's full 3 inch. Tailpipes will be similar to the ones used on an IRS cobra that run under the rear axle. Headers were a tough fit so I went with stock manifolds which is no problem on these as they can make well into the high 800s hp wise on stock manifolds. Still have to add a driveshaft loop then I can blow it all apart for paint. I like to work out all my gremlins early. Thanks for looking
