crazyrichard Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 thnx manny !! oh and detail wise i still have to start on real details ..so much to make , do and add ...
crazyrichard Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) i started on a oil drain cart , after some research i decided to go for the big model , one on 4 wheels , 2 fixed wheels and 2 turnable wheels (shopping cart wheels). so you can move the cart without tilting it or hauling the weight the rough base / start , made of the cap of a tube of diy sealant , at the bottom a styrene rim rind that was sanded smooth , on top a round cap sanded in a rounder shape , a brass hollow tube on top , some pin needles with a styrene knob , on top of the brass tube a oversized ford headlight all hollow and open turnknob for hight adjustment a wider tray to make one with the headlight and not spill when catching oil , on the bottom of the cart i put a iron hollow tube where later will be a drain hose attached glued on 2 hollow styrene tubes and bend a wide handle from copper wire to move the cart around now i have to make wheels ans some other details .. all rough needs primer and paint Edited October 15, 2014 by crazyrichard
Modelbuilder Mark Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I really enjoy watching the creativity you have come to life
crazyrichard Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 continued the oil drain cart today going thropugh my parts boxes i found 2 big and 2 small airplain wheels i got from a guy a while back .. those looked perfect and matched as a set big wheels in the rear just a simple mount with a axle bar then made cornerplates for the movable wheels ... used a steel pin to mount them after a tiny bit of tydying up then sprayed a thick layer of primer on it and still drying but already a bit matte .. and man i ddnt experct such a cool ... i really sat and watched the cart for a while a detail i dint show before primer on the front wheel corner plates i made angle plates for strenght and those really made the wheel mount plates look so much more realistic tomorrow a light sand and then i will spray it all red ... then after thats dry go in with chrome , black for the tyres ... a mesh grille in the catch tray for letting oild filters leak out ... a hose for emptying .... i did think about doing the cart white , so the barrel o to say white chrome pipe and the catch can red .. then it would match the garage lift .. but i'm affraid that looks to staged ..
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Have it different colors. Your building ability is amazing.
crazyrichard Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 thnx miles !!! cut some mesh for the oil filters shot of the side , you can see the shape , some ribbed stuff on the tank , the pipe below ahere the hose will go
bpletcher55 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 NICE ! You do amazing work from nothing ,
crazyrichard Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 thnx blair ! sprayed everything in base red and after that some gloss clear put on the mesh for letting oil filters leak out its very red , and still a very wet coat of clear , after drying and with black tyres , crome rims , chrome pushbar , some other chrome accents , a hose , logo etc it will pop i think
crazyrichard Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 the clear dryed , detail came back , sanded the steel pins down with a file so they shine again ... then with a too big brush (small one was gone) and a piece of paper between the tank and wheels , i painted the wheels matt black . then took a very thin guitar string , real steel and ribbed and made the hose , this particulair string is very flexible and not ridget , brass tube on the end .. added a ford v8 oil filter .. tomorrow i need to paint the handle / push bar chrome .. and then its done
johnbuzzed Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 That's really cool , but it's soooo clean... have you considered a little oily black wash?
crazyrichard Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 thnx and yes .. but again i will not weather anything yet .. i want to do more at the same time and make sure i will not overdo the weathering , i will do tests on styrene before apying it on the actual pieces and garage
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 This gets better with each update. Super nice work.
crazyrichard Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 thnx bob i finished the cart , chromed the rims , handle bar , tube under the catch thingy .. added a decal on the tank , the oil filter got a mild wash .. the rest didnt i want to do some tests first with washed and mild weathering , again dont want to overdo it
crazyrichard Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 outdoor picture in the sunlight and fixed the desk on its place in the office together with the round stool .. above the desk i made a moon eyes banner , thicker paper and folded , then hanged it up there with steel pins .. need a tiny bit of work still and added a moonyes car club decal on the window
crazyrichard Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 started on the first workbench bought some second hand lego cabinets online hacket one cabinet up and made one longer version (small red ones) 2 high ones beside it , piece of old windowblind behind it sanded it all smooth and on top of the high cabinets i put old windowblind plastic , that has a round edges on both sides the same plastic the rough base inside the garage and together with a car , the lift and cart for a impression now i'm in doubt if i will make a real wooden worktop , it does add realism and makes it more alive maybe .....(?)
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Now I wish I hadn't gotten rid of all those Lego doors I had. I think you should stay with plastic for the countertop, but there is a lot of woodwork you've done in there that came out great... You can make it work either way, I'm sure.
crazyrichard Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 legos are great to use as a base for stuff , the mill i made in the other garage was also made from a base of legos .. also its very sandable , easy to saw .. glues together with the regulair modelbuild glue .. great stuff and the cubbords are pretty nice to use yesterday i thought ooh now i need a vice so i got some plastics on the bench and started glue-ing and with some swearing (man thats tiny and my hands are so big) i got this result > uuhhmmm tinyyyy the rod will be put in after paint and then a nother end boll / stop on the other end
crazyrichard Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 went on with the cabinets and bench .. made a edge for this reason first lighting , more will follow primered the bench ...will use wood if you look at some online most have wooden tops
crazyrichard Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 in primer , very rough , needs sanding and at the bottom opening some bondo , made the wooden top .. more wood will follow i have a cool idea used metal coat to make the parts silver on the vice ...
bpletcher55 Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 very cool work ,making something out of nothing .
