I've got a little black book with my poems in,

Got a bag with a tooth brush and a comb in,

When I'm a good dog they sometimes throw me a bone in................

"Nobody Home" from the The Wall album........

JB, is the first song above "Over, Under, SideWays, Down" by the YardBirds? The group of artist in your clue gave it away.........

----------------------------------------

The books are sittin' at the top of the stack, now,

The longer words are nearly breaking my back, now,

Maybe I'll learn to understand,

Drawing a square with a pencil in hand, yea............

>"Over, Under, SideWays, Down" by the YardBirds

indeed it is. kind of strange it took so long to be guessed.

heres another:

he gets so angry when the teardrops start

but he can't be wounded because hes got no heart

(sorry for minor imperfections, I recited the lyrics from my head but haven't actually heard the song in a decade probably)

>Drawing a square with a pencil in hand, yea............

even though I don't recognize the exact lyrics this sounds like a song from Squeeze.

heres another:

security's so tight tonite

ohh they're ready for a tussle

better keep your back stage passes

because the promoter has the muscle

more lyrics:

now up jumps the US representative

hes the one with the tired eyes

747 put him in that condition

flying back from a peace keeping mission.

(extra points for explaining how this song is related to the one I quoted above)

yes JS, watching the defectives, though I flubbed the lyrics some.

the second song, since no one will probably know it (!), would be Rockpile's So It Goes, and the connection of course is Nick Lowe, bassist and founder of the group, also produced at least the first four Elvis Costello albums and really was the genius behind the guy if you ask me.

oh that one with all the Jamaican lyrics? outlaw Josie wales, leggo me hand gateman.

Now I'm alone no telephone and tell me you don't need me.
I ask you why and tell me lies and say the truth would hurt me.

"Remember where the thought is, I brought all this,

so you can survive, when law is lawless........."

A little help on this one, there's a video to it in the Album Art thread.............. It has cool lyrics, even if you don't like the hip-hop part.......

Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you,

By now you should'a somehow realized what you gotta do,

I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now..........

And when I wake up in the morning, to feel the day break on my face

There's a blood that's flowing through the feeling, with a knife to open up the sky's veins.........

It's so safe, it's so safe floating in the glass,

While above, while above all your troubles pass.....

This is Scandanavian 101
Flight from Hawaii coming out of the sun
Kennedy, you should be in sight
We can't see a thing here in the night
Navigator says we're on the flight path
There's no radio, no sign of life
This is Sandanavian 101
For Gods sake get the ground lights on!
