chunkypeanutbutter Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 "I love the friends I have gathered on this thin raft We have constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping This is the land the pharaoh died..."
Mike_G Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 dang it, couldn't think of it. I kept on thinking of this one.... Tell your Daddy and your Mama too You got something better to do Stick around the house the rest of your life You're eighteen you can do what you like Motorcycle Mama by ? Never really cared for this song as much as others on the album, but around 2:30 where the guitar stings come in, it gets cool. "Meet the brand new day-huh-hey-ayyyy The sun is up The sky is blue It's beautiful And so are you ____ ________ Won't you come out to play?" Dear Prudence by the Beatles Do you know who Prudence was, and what this song is about?
Mike_G Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 From the same album... "Deep in the jungle where the mighty tiger lie Bill and his elephants were taken by surprise So Captain Marble zapped him right between the eye All the children sing!" Bungalow Bill
chunkypeanutbutter Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Do you know who Prudence was, and what this song is about? Mia Farrow's sister and her deep meditations.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) "Outta college, money spent See no future, pay no rent All the money's gone, nowhere to go..." Edited February 13, 2015 by chunkypeanutbutter
Harry P. Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 "Outta college, money spent See no future, pay no rent All the money's gone, nowhere to go..." Beatles, You Never Give Me Your Money (Abbey Road album).
Harry P. Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Not to beat this language thing to death, but the greatest band of all time, IMO... the Beatles... never used profanity in their music. My point being, great music (and it doesn't get any greater than what the Beatles created) doesn't rely on a cheap crutch like profanity. The Beatles didn't need profanity in their music... they had all the talent they needed without resorting to cheap tricks (no offense to Cheap Trick... ). Editorial over... back to the game,
chunkypeanutbutter Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Well, profanity-laden songs are just repetitive and old. Just a couple is fine, like the album version of "Who Are You?"
Harry P. Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Well, profanity-laden songs are just repetitive and old. It's a lazy and uninventive way to "make a statement."
jwrass Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Ding Ding Casey!!! I have no idea what part of my brain had that one! I listened to part of it on I tunes today and it had a pretty cool pedal guitar part! Have a great weekend music lovers Jimmy "RASS"

Casey Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Not to beat this language thing to death, but the greatest band of all time, IMO... the Beatles... What was that debate we had about art one time? Yes, back to the lyrics: You're so ahead of yourself that you forgot what you need
Mike_G Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Mia Farrow's sister and her deep meditations.
