for the man who stole your water,

And you fire 'till he is done in,

but they catch you at the border''

I've been with you such a long time

You're my sunshine

And I want you to know

That my feelings are true

Operator by Jim Croce

That's the song! In my opinion, Jim Croce was one of, if not the, greatest storyteller in song that ever was.

Here's another one:

"You should have seen me with the poker man,

I had a honey and I bet a grand,

Just in the nick of time I looked at his hand... "

I don't know about the rest of the players on here, but I'll only be putting up songs that got at least some regular airplay - no album cuts. I don't like making these things too hard. That's not to say they got a lot of airplay or even made the Top 10 at any given time, but they were probably Top 40 for at least a week or two. Nothing completely obscure. Everybody shoiuld have at least heard of the performers! For instance, this one was a member of a famous group before going solo.

Anybody want to take a crack at this one from last night?

"Hello honey, it's me,

What did you think when you heard me back on the radio,

What did the kids say when they knew it was their long-lost daddy-o... "

I don't want to land in Mexico,

I don't want to land on no Three Mile Island,

Strut. Bob Seger

He shoots... HE SCORES! Right on the money, Kris.

How about this little ditty:

"Hot sun, beating down,

Burnin' my feet just walkin' around,

Hot sun, makin' me sweat,

'Gator's gettin' close, hasn't got me yet... "

Gripping the wheel, his knuckles turn white with desire. The wheels of his mustang explode on the highway like a slug from a 45. True death, 400 horsepower on maximum performance piercing the night. This is,,,

Stuck it out this far together. Put our dreams through the shreader, let's toast cause things got better. Everything can change like that and all these years go by so fast. But, nothing lasts forever

Last night your shadow fell upon my lonely room

I felt your golden hair and tasted your perfume

your eyes were filled with love the way they used to be

your gentle hand reached out to comfort me...

then came the dawn

and you were gone

you were gone, gone, gone...
