caabreu Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Hi guys, I am new at modeling cars as I am an aircraft modeler, well at least I have not done one for at least 40 years. I have started on the Revell Ferrari 612. I got as far as the engine and then I did not like some of my masking on the plenum so am doing it over again. I am posting my pics to hope to get some tips from you guys> Here are some photos of the engine OOB before I resprayed the plenum: I was not finished painting the red parts and that is why I started over on this part. Here is where I am now I am going to do the top end of the engine again. I
chunkypeanutbutter Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Looking good! I don't know any tips that might help you, as this looks great already!
Jeremy Jon Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Great start, looking super clean, Nicely done!
Deathgoblin Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Very nice work so far. This is a fun kit. It goes together very well.
ZTony8 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Your aircraft experience has put you in good stead. That's such clean painting you've done.I wish I could be that neat.
caabreu Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 I have gotten the engine complete. Also the body has been primered in Tamiya grey primer and wet sanded. I will give it a coat of white primer tomorrow as I am going to paint it red. Do you guys paint interior body things like headliner etc. before or after painting the exterior color?
Chillyb1 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I love this car! Can't wait to see more progress. I've built it three times and recall that it goes together really well.
Kennyboy Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 You are doing a great job on this so far Geoffrey! I love Ferrari's so of course I am riveted to this!!
kevjoh Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Looking absolutely fantastic so far, you may have to adjust the ride height, some of these Revell Ferraris; are inclined to sit a bit too heigh on the suspension, other than that they are great kits.
Custom Mike Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) Do you guys paint interior body things like headliner etc. before or after painting the exterior color? Geoffrey, I paint my headliners and any other areas that need to be painted in the interior after the body has been painted, it's usually the last thing I do prior to assembly of the body and chassis. Great job on the re-work of the top of the engine, it looks great! I would show you a picture of the engine in my 612, but it's not quite the same,,,, Edited September 11, 2014 by Custom Mike
peekay Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Very nice paint finishes and detailing on that engine. I think it's we who could use some tips from you!
caabreu Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 I got some color on it. It is my first time painting with a rattle can and it is a bit different than using an airbrush. It is not perfect or should I say I wish it came out a bit better, but I can live with it.
caabreu Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Sorry for the multiple posts, here are some pics in natural light.
