Hi,

Been visiting the forum for some time but finally joined about a week ago. So much

great stuff here...I would say that this is one of my best modeling discoveries. I model

strictly factory stock and mostly MoPars and Packards (I own 3 1:1 MoPars and 2 1:1

Packards).

I've just recently begun work on a 1938 Packard Super Eight convertible. Since there are

no 1/25th or 1/24th '35's, 36's, 37,s, 38's or '39's, I have to practically scratchbuild the

entire model. About the only thing I was able to start with was the engine from the '30

Packard Phaeton (...and that had to be heavily modified). The basic floor and rear fenders

are from a '40 Ford (again heavily modified) but otherwise the model is scratchbuilt (body,

running boards, cowl, firewall, dash and chassis). Oh, and the windshield is from a '39 Chevy.

Here is the progress I've made so far....

1. The body

2. Front view with firewall

3. The engine

4. The dash

5. The hood ornament (Cormorant)

This model will be detailed with real leather seats and panels, real wood trim,

functioning windows (roll up and down), functioning rumble seat, functioning

rear luggage/trunk rack, functioning steering, functioning cowl vent, functioning

(hinged) 'golf-bag' door behind the driver's door and completely plumbed and

wired engine and bay. The plan is to paint it Packard Ivory with a tan/beige

leather interior (...although, I have given some thought to Loyola Maroon with

the tan interior).

AWWwwhheeuuhhmm,,, where does one bagin... that is amazing,i love that dashboard, and the detail on that engine is great, but wouldnt an car this old have textile-isolated wires??

The dashboard is incredible!! I love the convex curve of the gauge faces........did you flow epoxy onto them?
