JordanFordF1 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I was just wondering if anyone out there has this kit, my question is on the box cover and ends it shows the model with some nice looking side scoops but on the box side they are missing. Are these scoops included with the kit? Thanks.
unclescott58 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 How about some photos so we know what your talking about? Scott
blubaja Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) He's talking about the boxart with the scoops on it. Edited September 13, 2014 by blubaja
JordanFordF1 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Thanks blubaja, that's what I needed to know.
ERIK88 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 These are def stickers, I built one of these with my step daughter , pretty nice kit. I remember building this one back in 2000, the added chrome rims and brake discs are a plus . She built it way better than I did, that's for sure. The actual body surprisingly has a good gloss to it , compared to the one I first had.
Tom Geiger Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Those scoops do look cool... if they were plastic! Anyone else think it would be cool to get the latest Beetle in a kit ?
ERIK88 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Yea I think the new beetle looks pretty nice, they should make a kit of it, I doubt they will, this was a iconic comeback, complete new styling since the 60s .i remember a lot of people heard or talked about the new beetle, even the ones that didn't like em lol.
Tom Geiger Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 and why not a story about when that New Beetle came out? VW had done it as a show car and it looked pretty neat to me. When I first saw them in person it was like they were making those show cars! The dealer in Shrewsbury, NJ had a whole front lot full of them. People were stopping to look, as we did when I first spotted them on our way to a restaurant. I decided I wanted one, so that Saturday I drove back to the dealer in my paid for Geo Tracker, the title and a bank check in my pocket. I walked the lot and picked out a red one with a 5 speed. I knew that there was a lot of interest so I knew there wouldn't be much bargaining on the price. A salesman walked up to me and I pointed to the red Beetle and said, "I think I want this one." He just laughed at me, "You and everyone else!" Then he went on to tell me that they weren't selling the cars on the lot, just taking orders for much later delivery at some $2-3000 over list. So I told him to pound salt and walked off the lot. I was so ticked that I swore I'd never buy a car at that dealer or own a VW. And within six month same dealer was calling offering a few thousand OFF list. I no longer was interested. And probably a good thing since those early Beetles were plagued with issues.

Sorry for late response, but that is one funny story! Yea i was in my teens, and even I thought they were pretty cool. They looked very modern for their time, plus a nice flower came with everyone one of these lol. So the VW beetle had some mechanical issues uh? . curious to know what kind. Maybe you can get yourself a new beetle this time around! Much awaited update i would think for some beetle enthusiast.

I have a few friends who sold off Jettas with electrical ghosts. A friend with a Beetle said it was just junky and handles and such just kept breaking.
