KingSix Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Recently a High School friend of mine's father passed. He was a logger in and around the N.Conway NH, Fryeburg Maine area. I remember my Dad would buy lumber from him every spring & fall for the campground we owned on Kezar Lake in Lovell Me.., needless to say the splitting maul and I became close .. Unfortunately the truck is being sold on, so, as a gift to my friend I'm building her a replica. I have a few pics of it, but this is the best one yet .. If you can steer me in the right direction as to what kit would be best to start with, I think I can handle the rest ! ( famous last words ) I thank you in advance for your time & input ..
redneckrodder Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 an amt r model mack with resin parts such as the tires and rims with a scratchbuilt log rack would probably be the best way to go
tbill Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 amt/ertl mack R model kit, a peerless/roadrunner logging trailer kit, and a few aftermarket parts will get you where you need to be.
Petetrucker07 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Yeah, an AMT R model Mack. Lots of styrene, some resin parts and a crane from KFS
tbill Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 actually, the italeri kit with the crane may work as well.
Bennyg Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Check out sour krauts model truck stuff so you can lengthen the chassis. He stocks mack chassis rails to extend the amt macks. Ben
Mackvision Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 As already stated the Mack R-685 kit is your best bet as a base kit, some serious scratchbuilding will be involved! the truck pictured is an R-Model with what appears to be a Prentice self-loader,can't help much with that, but would certainly be able to help out with any Mack specific related questions or information,ie: specific colors options, etc glad to help!................................Mark
