Few of the kits that I build come with instrument decals. Is there an after market source for these? Don't need flames or scallops, just various gauges.

Milt,

I use Google and eBay a lot to find pictures of dash panels I need. I reduce them down to the size I need, print them on glossy photo paper, peel off the paper backing and glue them in place. Sometimes the photos are not useable because of the angle, glare or a steering wheel in the way bcause they're getting a picture of the odometer. If nothing else, they're good for correct color references.

Good luck,

I do the same thing that Raul does. Find a dash that I like, take pictures of it, reduce it and print it. There are some decal manufacturers out there that do have decals of gauges. But I don't know them off the top of my head. Maybe try a company like VRM. They do a lot of vintage racing decals and I do know they some sheets that have gauges in them.

Also if you have some decals with gauges on them, just copy them on a printer, you can make extras for other projects.

and Model car garage has some.

Good luck.

Do a few google image searches for "auto gauge faces" or"gauges" or "dashboard gauges", etc.

You'll find more gauges than you'll need! Save the image(s) to your computer, size the gauges to scale and print on decal paper. You can copy and paste the gauges to fill an entire sheet of decal paper. You'll have enough gauge decals to last a lifetime!

A good source that I think some one here told me about is the Summit on line catalog. They have pics of almost every gauge they sell.

If it would help, I have a nice high quality scan of some 1/8 scale gauge faces that scale down nicely to whatever size you need, printing them on glossy photo paper works real well. they are a complete "street rod" type set of speedo, tach, oil pressure, fuel, temp and amps in both white face and black face. I'd be happy to email you either a Photoshop file or a jpg if you'd like, just send me an email.

The easiest source to find guages is as close as your magazine stand. Hot Rod, Rod and Custom, any other automotive enthusiast magazine has ads for guages, different sizes, colors and types. If they are too big just take the page to your local printer and have them reduced, NO BIG PROBLEM here.
