Unless this particular chassis is different than every other sprint car I've seen the very front vertical tube (not the two shortie braces at the very front) aren't correct, there should only be one on the right side of the chassis it's used as a mount for the panhard bar to keep the front axle centered. There's usually a couple of spuds with threads in it for mounting the heim joint to and they're not very far apart they're for setting the front roll center.

Thanks so much Delton. In reviewing the reference photos I have, I see you are correct on the vertical tube on the right side. I moved the right side one and took out the left side.

Was able to get some bench time in and have been working on the axles. Rear one is done which includes the brake. Front one is a DM product but with brass ends and all soldered together. Finishing up the alterations and other tasks on the frame then it will get a coat of primer and a then a coat of semi-gloss black.

That's all for now.

Work continues on the prepping the frame for all of the wing mounts, nerf bars, bumpers, etc. Getting close to primer painting and checking for issues.

Well, the frame is finished and painted. Engine is painted and wouldn't you know it, I can't find the decal sheet. I need to add a few to the frame and engine before shooting with semi-gloss clear. The search continues.

A few pictures to show but minimal amount of detail work. The chassis took quite a bit of work adding the bumper, shock and wing mounts. Have a red distributor with red wires coming from M.A.D. so that will hold up the engine detail and have reordered the decals from Chief Joseph at Fireball Modelworks. The injector tubes are not glued in as they need straightening. Here we go with some pics.

As always comments and input welcome.

You're really doing good, I really like the injector bodies you have, where DID they come from? I'm either going to cut up a set from the injected big block Corvette, or rob a 1/24 scale Action diecast for some better looking ones. The Action car is also giving up its air cleaner box because it's such a good one without having to order the one from the Aussie resin caster, BUT he does have some nice stuff. While you're at it remember those injector lines are fabric and rubber, not stainless braid, and there's a second set that goes to the down nozzles on the cylinder heads, (they go directly into the combustion chamber on the real car), and if you're really wanting a correctly plumbed injection, if you can get an issue of Sprint Car and Midget magazine there are several ads from different engine builders that have some pretty clear pictures of the complete ready to install engines, and some of the issues have some really good pictures of teams in the act of changing engines and you can see exactly what a dressed one looks like without the air box in place, you can also get some pretty good pictures of the Mallory Pro Mag II that most teams are running, you can get a pretty good one in the drag race style but they're bigger in diameter than the sprint car version, using a detail master vertex mag kit with a standard V-8 distributor cap on top and using transparent red for the body of the mag is what I used I used a red sharpie to color the mag then cleared over it to protect it.

Thanks for your input Delton. I'll have to track down an issue or two of those magazines. Didn't know they existed. So who is this Aussie resin caster and does he have a web site? The injector bodies are what comes in the kit but I cut the top portion off and replaced with aluminum tubing. I figured I was going to need to make an air cleaner box so what is the Action car you speak of? I'll go ahead and paint the ss tubing a flat black to represent rubber.

Great stuff, thanks for chiming in.

Brad, I haven't been able to find the name of Australian resin caster yet, but I I haven't given up. The Action car I'm referring to is a 1/24 scale die cast that I picked up a couple of on a closeout sale, paid $10 each for a pair of Danny Lasoski #20  Home Depot cars. They have the correct front tires, and the air box and a usable dry sump oil tank among other things. And for what I paid I don't mind taking them apart, just wish I had enough experience to resin cast a couple for other builds.

Thanks so much Art. I can't wait the 28 days for shipping though. I can make a filter box as I had originally planned. Theirs wasn't quite right anyway.

Brad... Its great to see you back at the bench with this. Nice work on the rear end bits as well as the engine. Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing more on this.

Decals are in from Chief Joseph and I had a bit of time this morning to add the ones to the valve covers and the frame above the cockpit for Ian's name. Now both of these will get a semi-gloss clear coat before proceeding. Here's a couple of pics.

Pics were taken with my phone so they aren't the best.

A small amount of time in and got the engine wired and a couple of the water lines done. Still need to add the red and blue anodized colors.
