Jim B Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 So I managed to get some work done on my 1/2500 Cadet Series USS Enterprise 1701. There really aren't a lot of parts with this kit, but the seams are horrendous!! Here are the parts laid out (warp nacelles, Primary & Secondary hulls assembled): And here is a mock-up with the saucer section & warp nacelles placed on the secondary hull: Yes, it's sitting on a clothes pin. I filled the Secondary Hull with 2-part epoxy putty so the support rod will have something to go into, then it will be placed on a Delta Quadrant Federation base.
Chuck Most Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Nice! Reminds me I have an AMT 18" Enterprise I need to get around to building....
Jim B Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 Thanks, Chuck. I built the 18" AMT kit back in 1987. Still have it, too.
Chuck Most Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Mine's the reissue with the scaled-down Polar Lights decal sheet. I got it when it first came back out, so far haven't done much other than open the box.
Jim B Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 Well, I finally finished my 1/2500 USS Enterprise. It was an interesting build, and for the most part enjoyable. Here are some photos of the finished product. I think I'll start working on the Enterprise-A next. Live long & prosper.
Roadrunner Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) Interesting stuff. I have some Star Trek stuff to get back to one of these days, especial the Romulan Warbird, my favorite of the lot. Edited February 11, 2015 by Roadrunner
Jim B Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Yea, a little more flat clear probably couldn't hurt. The main problem is I didn't put enough gloss clear on before I applied the decals, so they are applied over flat paint. Not the best situation. Thanks for the compliments.
Jim B Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) I used Testors Model Masters Light Gray. I had a friend of mine spray it with his airbrush, & I told him to "clear coat it". Guess i wasn't specific enough. I should have applyed another coat of clear gloss before I added the decals. Oh well, live & learn! Edited February 11, 2015 by Jim B
