20venom08 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I don't know if this write place to post this question new to site, so question is I wanna start putting on after market wheels and tires to my models make them look nice like I see on this site but I can't figure out how to connect them to axles that come with the kit is there a trick on doing this or place online to learn how?
DynoMight Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Do you have any pictures of the axle and wheel backing you're trying to use?
maltsr Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Hi Mark, welcome to the site, you'll find lots of help here. When I add Pegasus wheels to my cars, I use a piece of rod or tube (plastic, aluminium or brass) that fits snugly inside the wheel mount (about 2mm). Remove the wheel mounting boss from the axle, drill a 2mm hole and then glue in a short piece of the aforementioned rod. When dry, slip the wheel over the rod and glue in place. No doubt others will chime in with other suggestions for other wheels. Oh, there's also a section on the home page for how-to's, tips and questions - there may be more solutions there.
ferrari87 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=215864 There's a plethora of how-to's there. Specifically, how to modify wheels from male to female and female to male. Might help in your search.
20venom08 Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 Hello all I'm new to this site and I'm recently been wanting to customize my models to make them look more real I got aftermarket wheels and tires but I can't figure out how to connect them to the box stock axle that comes with the kits can anyone help me with this please..thank you
tubbs Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 hey Mark, welcome to the site. if you could give us some more info on what rims you have, where they are from and what model you are putting them on, we may be able to help you out a little more. pictures work great also.
Draggon Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Is the hole in the rim smaller in diameter than the stub on the axle? If so, just ream it larger with an appropriate sized drill bit. If the hole in the rim is larger, you could shim it with some brass or aluminum tubing.

MeatMan Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I've learned that each one is different. I built a vintage Cobra with Pegasus wheels and had to grind the hub down on the wheels as well as cut the axle back and they just fit inside the wheel wells. I also just build a Nissan where the wheels fitted like they were made for it. I'd say when the time comes you will need to post pics showing what you are trying to do and ask for specific help. Use the search and tutorials as well. G'luck!!
