cobraman Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Since the original post went bye bye I will pick this up from where I am. The stock headlights have been filled and are being relocated to the grill. Tail lights and rear panel are being modified as well. The interior was sprayed with Fabric Tan. The car was lowered by installing some plastic tube where the axle rides. The metal axle rides in the tube and brings the car down more to my liking. The wheels were sprayed with Tamiya Silver Leaf. The body is being painted AMC Big Bad Blue.
slusher Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Now that's gonna be cool Ray!!! :-) I agree and now I want one...
Sixx Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Geez, I've got 2 of 'em...and their still in the box!! D'oh !! : /
cobraman Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 Thanks guys. Seems like a great simple kit that you can build quick and still looks good. Great little project for between more difficult builds.
Kennyboy Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Excellent job on the headlight blockouts Ray! Derrick, I would love to see a big blown mill sticking out of the hood and some huge slicks out back......and.....ACTION!
Trans Am Erik Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 That looks sweet! What type of headlights are you going to use in the grille, the stock ones or maybe round ones? Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. Is the grille a throw away piece? It's what i need for my "Extreme Custom Merc".
cobraman Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 I am using the stock grill. I just drilled holes in it and backed them with some BMF and then did the front with Krysal Klear. Looks ok but not great, just wanted something different.

cobraman Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 Here's the front as it sits now. I see 2 problems one of which I will fix. First, the new headlights are too small so I will drill them out larger. The second is in the putty job on the stock headlights. Looked good in primer but after I put the paint on I can see I should have done another round of putty and sanding. Not going to try and fix that now. : (
Kennyboy Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 That's ok Ray.....it fooled my eyes too. I would have sworn it was good to go for paint. For the headlights Ray, check out Michael's bead dept for eyelets, then put a sequin in it for the projector look. Or you can just put an led bulb in there from a toy.
cobraman Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 This one is finished. Photos in the "Under Glass" section soon if interested.
