Platerpants Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Combining an AMT promo 1500 shortbed and Promo Dually You get This well Sorta... It needed some resin help and still needs a lot of work. I still need to get him to send me some reference photos because his interior is slightly custom, and he has a roll bar and light bar.
Fabrux Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Your friend...does he by any chance post on GMT400.com? That truck looks familiar...
Platerpants Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) Your friend...does he by any chance post on GMT400.com? That truck looks familiar... not sure. but he is a chevy guy and im a ford guy so we would post on different forums. he has shown me some pretty cool chevys on the S10 forums and maybe even GMT400. He has pretty much changed all his marker lights to green even his clearance lights. He has a bunch of strobes on it and i swear he changes the window decals weekly.... The thing is locked up in storage though for winter.... He drives a little blue s10 i wanna say its an 88 as his winter driver/school vehicle. I had more picture of his truck that werent sourced from facebook but they were on my old phone and it died.... Here's one right after he got the truck with his old truck that got scrapped. Platerpants Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) Another Picture he just sent me this one. He has deleted the 4x4 decals since this picture though thats how its gonna be built no 4x4 decals Edited December 13, 2014 by Platerpants
Platerpants Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 So i had a little time to mess around with it. i set the frame where i thought it should be then made the front suspension. It still utilizes the promo axle but kinda looks like a lifted chevy front end I call it a promo lift. Oh and workin on some scratch fender flares. If it seems a little high to you guys i guess it is future truck because within the next 2 years he plans to lift it more than just cranked torsion bars and big tires.
Platerpants Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 Wheels Done, interior traded with my brother CavemanX for the gray one out of his dually his red dually now has my brown interior.
Platerpants Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 fender flares got redone. the base pieces are flares from a 1/26 2001 chevy silverado diecast. Work and getting ready for the holidays may slow this down a little.
hjracing Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Great job on this Chevy! What wheel do you using? looks really nice!
Platerpants Posted December 19, 2014 Author Posted December 19, 2014 Great job on this Chevy! What wheel do you using? looks really nice! Thanks The wheels are Scenes Unlimited "Chevy 8 Lug Steel Wheels" and the tires are B-N-L Resins "36" Mickey Thompsons"
Platerpants Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 Got some primer on it. Its gonna be sanded reprimed sanded again and then painted.
Platerpants Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 The real truck has camo around the door handles and dash, i took a crack at it. Of course he did have a picture of the dash for me.... Forgot to do the body color speakers lol.
Platerpants Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 (edited) Got some more work done. gotta make tow mirrors, tint rear windows and either do a roll bar or headache rack. also took the time to kinda replicate a picture from last summer, with my old truck my friend's 2013 f150 and friends taurus. but a raptor and cougar replaced the taurus. hjracing Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Wow! Great job on all those replicas! The Silverado is a really nice build! Thanks for the info on the Chevy wheels. The Raptor is from Hada Toys?
av405 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 If you're looking for the correct 1994-1998 grille, it comes with the AMT Snap Chevy Tahoe kit.
Fabrux Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 The Tahoe grille doesn't fit the best in the pickups. The snap-kit dually and all promos 94+ have the proper grille.
av405 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Unfortunately that's not true. My promo 1997 C-3500 has the pre-1994 grille. I have two sealed 1996 snap C-3500s and both also appear to have the same pre-1994 grille. It looks like the Tahoe is the only one that was updated with the appropriate grille.
Fabrux Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) That's...odd. Here's my two promos, a 1993 and a 1997. The 1997 has the newer grille. Edited December 23, 2014 by kataranga
Platerpants Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 Thanks guys but he bought an aftermarket grille that more or less resembles the older grille. Wow! Great job on all those replicas! The Silverado is a really nice build! Thanks for the info on the Chevy wheels. The Raptor is from Hada Toys? Yes the raptor is the jada raptor.
Nick W. Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 The 3500 snap kit does indeed have the newer 94 and up grille!
Platerpants Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 resin cast a tailgate to replicate the one his sisters got ahold of. oh it does have tow mirrors now.
obs.caleb Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Bringing an old thread back up... Did you ever finish the project or still have it?
