Hi.

I recently bought a mint MPC 73 Firebird formula,the 3 in 1 kit,and i consider getting some body`s and

formula hoods casted. Would the 1:24 scale 70 Trans Am from Revell/Monogram do good as a donor?

The donor parts for the resin would be.

Complete tailights.

Rear bumper.

Grill.

Front headlights.

Tub & interior.

Glass.

Firewall.

Chassis.

Have anyone attempted this?

The Revell kit will be larger in every dimension than your MPC. That's probably going to cause problems in what you want to do. But I wish you luck. Would be cool to have the parts you mention on the market.

Modelhaus might have some of the stuff you need for '70-'74 Firebird.

Tommy, try sending a Private Message to member ratnasty/Chuck: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showuser=4836

He offered the body and other pieces not too long ago, but not sure if there are any plans to offer it/them again.

I would try the recent AMT '70-1/2 Camaro Z/28 kit (the Baldwin-Motion version would also work) for the chassis/floorpan, firewall, headlight lenses, and windshield: http://www.round2models.com/files/instructions/amt854.pdf

The interior builds up platform style, so you might be able to use the floor, too, and create new door panels.

Thanks for the input and suggestions.

Richard: Not sure if i would dare to offer anything on the market before i actually have the items on hand. I have brought

up the subject on this car before, and there was some offers and promises, but i never did see any actual products.

Modelhaus seem to have all the parts for the body wich is great.

Casey: That is a good idea, but i dont have the skill to scratch new door panels. Do you know if the door panels are the same

from 70 up to let`s say the 77 Trans Am?

There are many differences, and since there were base Firebird, Esprit, Formula, and Trans Am models for most years in that range, there will be many small differences.

'71's were the only year to have fender vents, too, so that might rule out '71 Formulas, too:
