chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 In lieu of recent happenings, police officers have had targets painted on their backs. This comes after the tragic shooting in Brooklyn of two officers in their car. In support of the families and for awareness, many (including myself) have changed their profile pictures on social media to this: I urge you to do the same. Thank you.
SfanGoch Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 (edited) The two officers who were assassinated Saturday worked out of the 84th PCT. in my neighborhood. I had the honor and privilege to have personally known both of these heroes. God bless and rest in peace. Edited December 22, 2014 by SfanGoch
High octane Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Yes, that was a "senseless" killing of two police officers, but there are a LOT of "senseless" people out there today. This isn't the 50's anymore.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 It's a jungle out there...
Agent G Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I've attended way too many police funerals in my 35 years on the job. You know the threat is real, yet you go in everyday and do your job. It's as bad as I have ever seen it. G
Custom Hearse Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 So many Officers being targeted just makes me sick. This needs to stop NOW!
Superpeterbilt Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Yeah, my heart goes out to the families. The sad part is the shooter is not the only guilty party. There are several people with blood on thier hands.

This isn't the 50's anymore. I don't know about the 50's but such a true statement about senseless people. Every time a police officer knocks on a door or walks up to the window of a traffic stop could be his last. I feel so sorry for the men who lost their live for nothing and their families...
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 This is why I've been thinking more and more about becoming an officer.
Agent G Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Miles I have never regretted my choice of career for one second. G
jbwelda Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 >Bullets are like candy, make sure to bring enough for everyone. A cop uses this for a signature? I think we have found the problem. Respect to the lost officers, it appears they were just a victim of their jobs, but police swaggering around like that .sig implies just makes me sick over the police state we have allowed this country to become. This isn't Iraq you know, and you aren't supposed to be bullying people which again is exactly what that .sig implies. it will get worse before it gets better if certain attitudes don't change. and I won't take back that chat. jb
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 It's not like he's waltzing around shooting people, Bill. It's for when the s--t hits the fan that you need enough .40s for every guest present. Yes?

The problem is that you don't "get" black humor. It's common among people who are engaged in dangerous occupations. Soldiers, cops, firefighters, emergency service, etc., all use it as a means to lighten the mood and keep their minds off the fact that today might be their last day. I remember a similar line used when I was in the Army. Do you have a problem with that too? You don't indicate where you come from. I live in NYC. Our NYPD has 35,000 MOS, which is more than the population of a lot of towns. I have family members who are on the job. Contrary to what is reported in the media, cops here aren't storm trooper-like bullies. They show an amazing amount of restraint considering the c_rap they have to put up with. That goes for most cops everywhere. They perform their duty day in day out, hoping to go home when their shift is over. Do you live in a two stop light burg that has a SWAT team to take care of parking violations? More than a few tract housing communities have PDs larger, and excessively over-equipped, than needed to perform their duties. BTW, those officers weren't victims. Your choice of words is offensive. They fell in the line of duty. A big difference. Don't talk the talk unless you've walked the walk. Edited December 23, 2014 by SfanGoch
