FenderMender Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Picked up this kit for $3.25. Awesome price but does the kit have many extra parts like the 2'n1 kits? Any wheels other than the custom ones? What is particularly "wrong" about the kit, if anything? In the photo, it appears a little plain to me but that might be just the result of the photo. Does this model look better in person? Thanks for your help.
crispy Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I picked it up myself. I bought it to "restify" my tubbed Nova. It appears most everything with exception to the tubbed chassis is in the kit. Lots of extras. It comes with hub-caps, big wheels and another set of regular wheels. I really don't see much wrong with the kit at all. In fact I think it goes together well. You'll enjoy it. Chris

If you can find the "Resto Rods" version of this kit, it will have the stock chassis and stock wheels.
FenderMender Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 Now I am confused. Extra parts or no extra parts? Extra wheels or no extra wheels?
crispy Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Ahh, yes, Frank is right. You've got the custom rides one. I bought the Resto Rods kit which is 2'n1 and has all the extras. The kit you have only has the big wheels. I apologize. I wasn't paying attention to your box. Chris
camaroman Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 (edited) Another thing to watch out for in the "rides" version is that goofy offset rear end to lower the back. Sort of looks like a bell dropped front axle for a street rod. Edited January 31, 2008 by camaroman
roncomatic Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I picked up the Resto Rod version (same one Crispy has) of this car tonight and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had three sets of wheels, two sets of tires and two complete engines... well, three engines if you count the display short block and heads they also put in the box. --ron
FenderMender Posted January 31, 2008 Author Posted January 31, 2008 Thanks for the clarifications, men. Obviously I would have preferred the Resto Rod version kit, but for the very low price, I am content with the Rides kit and have no complaints. I think I might have an extra set of skinnies and slicks somewhere. LOL
James W Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Another thing to watch out for in the "rides" version is that goofy offset rear end to lower the back. Sort of looks like a bell dropped front axle for a street rod. Haven't you seen tractors that use this type of axle to raise the drive train above the crop? They must have tiny little drive gears in them to compensate for the larger rolling stock.
