Petetrucker07 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) This a little side project. Shouldnt real difficult. Im gonna strip it down, paint, put it back together and wait till i can make decals for it. Edited January 18, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Petetrucker07 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Its a really simple tesr down. 1 screw holds the cab and arm assembly on. 3 screws hold the arm cab glass to cab body. The tracks are just basically giant rubber bands.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Ill be converting it from whatever they say it is to a Caterpillar excavator, not sure what model yet, need to do more research. I will be using genuine Cat yellow.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Looks like its comparable to a Cat 330.
kilrathy10 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I was amazed at the design of this little kit.....One little tiny screw holds the whole thing together.....Can't wait to see what your take on it...... I didn't even know this category existed till today.....
Petetrucker07 Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 Small update. The bulk of the paint is done. Now time to start detailing.
chris02719 Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 If it helps any I believe it's closer to a 320 than a 330. I have one I need to start on. My biggest hurdle is the decals. Hope this helps.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) Thats my hold up. I need to figure something out on decals. Im gonna spray the black today and possibly do the red stripe around. It might even be smaller than 320. I have another im gonna do up John Deere. It really looks close to the JD 290. Tesla Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Great start Clayton. Actually, this scales out to a CAT 320C. Here's the link to mine: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87540 If you like the decals send a PM
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Wow. You've taken something that looked toylike and turned it into a great looking scale model. Very nice.
tbill Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 looks great, I too have one of these to 'do up' eventually.
72 Charger Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 That's cool who sells these? Can they be bought in the UK?
Petetrucker07 Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 I found them on extremecustoys.com Im not sure if they ship over seas. If you look under constructio ewuipment they the excavator by itself. Its made by New Ray. I bought mine at a truck stop here
Petetrucker07 Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 (edited) Got the decals on today. Thought it was a good opportunity to take pics outside with some dirt. Edited January 31, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Petetrucker07 Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 I still need to plumb the arm and rams. But it looks good. Thanks man for giving this some realism. The decals make this thing come to life.
