microwheel Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Your interior is really looking nice Geoff. Been a while since I was on the site to check out your updates, but glade I got the chance to check out your progress. Nice work all around buddy.
GTJUNIOR Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Great build of a very quirky vehicle. Can't wait to see it finished.
dw1603 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Managed to get myself into the hobby room over the weekend, You have a hobby room, I have a futility room. Lots of things get started, but nothing ever gets finished!Lovely work by the way.
Tom Geiger Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Nice to see some progress Geoff! You may motivate me to get off my duff and work on mine!
GeeBee Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Nice to see some progress Geoff! You may motivate me to get off my duff and work on mine!Cheer's Tom, I've put the van away until this one is finished, still haven't made my mind up what livery I'm going to do the van in, there's really not much on the 'net about them ....

GeeBee Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) GREAT JOB, GEOFF!! What brand of flocking do you use?A few years ago i bought quite a few bags of the stuff on eBay, bought quite a few different colours, no brand name, they just came in large sealy bags, they should last me a few years, have a look on eBay, there's plenty of choice on there, Edited November 30, 2015 by GeeBee
GeeBee Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 I do have a few models that have come to a halt, but usually i start one model and get that finished before starting another, but i've got a Fujimi Porsche 356 that I need to get back to, and another Morgan 4/4 that also came to a standstill,http://geoffbrownsmodelling.webs.com/fujimi-porsche-356-cabriolethttp://geoff-brown.webs.com/tamiya-morgan-4-4
dw1603 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Hi Geoff, I'm not sure if that helped, I now have two more candidates for my "Gotta buy it" list. I've seen your Porsche before and was totally knocked out by it, really looking forward to the finished item. Much as I love the 356, I always had a yearning for a Porsche powered Beatle. Now I'm thinking, what if there were a decent oval window VW kit? hmmmm..... Whoops just added another kit to that list. Time to stop dreaming and start building I guess. As a matter of interest, what engine does the Morgan come with?Dave

dw1603 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 As a matter of interest, what engine does the Morgan come with?DaveJust looked up your previous Morgan build (beautiful!) so I now know it has the Ford Kent engine in it. I also looked up price and availability of the Morgan, the Porsche and the Gunze Sangyo Beetle, wow! it looks as if I've set myself a challenge there.Dave
IJ001 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Hi GeoffJust spent twenty minutes going through this thread, great wee project and looking like a real 'head-turner' in the making. Looking forward to the next installment.Ian.
GeeBee Posted December 6, 2015 Author Posted December 6, 2015 Been working on the interior over the weekend, the side panels were masked off so the door handles and window winders to be airbrushed in flat black, once painted the seat belt were fitted after having the seat belt buckle picked out in BMF, once all that was done the sides were fitted to the interior pod, and then work started on the dashboard, the interior pod was dry fitted onto the floorpan, the wheels and tyres were fitted after the black centre caps had been picked out with flat black
mod3l Lover Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Those are such cool little cars. You are doing aamazing job on that also! That color and finish lookso very good on that car. Living here in the States I have never even seen oneof those little gems. Great work sir, David S.
GeeBee Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 Before the dash can be fitted into the body, the bonnet needs to be put in place and held in place with masking tape, so before all that happens, I wanted to get the trim on top of the front wings, doors and quarter panels, like the other Trabant i built, they will be covered in aluminium BMF then the rubber trim will be picked out using a black art marker
GeeBee Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) Front grille painted and a black wash added to bring out the detail Edited December 12, 2015 by GeeBee
GeeBee Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 I've been doing a little bit on this over the holidays, finally got the body and floorpan fitted together, I used 5 minute epoxy to secure the front and rear, the sides were held in place using double sided tape, I nearly forgot to add the washer bottle under the bonnet, luckily i remembered before the body went on,
Tom Geiger Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 You're doing a grand job Geoff! I see a few items on the inner fenders that need a dab of paint. On the right inner fender behind the coils, there is a black box, a bit more prominent on the model than in this photo. On the left side I see what looks like the windshield washer reservoir and the round thingie. I gave them all some paint. Oh, and the molded in wires going towards the front of the car.
GeeBee Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Now the body and floorpan are together, it got a quick wipe over with some Novus # 1 to remove any finger marks, the aluminium foil was masked up so the black rubber trim could be applied, this was done with a chisel edged art marker, the body was masked up so there wouldn't be any accidents ..
Tom Geiger Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Nice technique! Geoff, so the trim is silver in the center with a black edge on either side? Those of us without access to 1:1 cars wouldn't know that. It's not apparent in photos.

Like aluminium channels on caravans, the aluminium fades over time, but yes, it's an aluminium channel to hide the screws that hold the body panels on, then a rubber strip is hammered into the groove
