Porsche 908; engine/transaxle kit?

Hi,

Does any one know a source for a 1/24 scale flat 8 used in the Porsche 908?

I'd be uber stoked over a engine/trans-axle kit.

I know MFH have a 908 kit, wonder if they would also sell the engine/trans-axle separate?

The Heller/AMT/Union 907/8 is full detail. Now and then one pops up at a decent price.

Well, I read a review of that kit on this forum and it sounded like the engine bay was a big let down.

Have you seen its engine bay up close?

Well, its an interesting thought to use a Heller/Union kit which run ~$60 on eBay at the moment.

Perhaps get an HRM 917 engine/trans kit ~$35 and rework it?

Yea the Heller 907 sells for way more money than I think it is worth

Ok first off JC's right in that folks are spendin' too much for the Heller, etc 907/8 Kit, but as I mentioned if you're not in a hurry they do showup now and then at a reasonable price.

Problem with going the 917 route is it was made up basically of 2 Boxer 6's that met in the middle to reduce shaft's flexing so you'd not only need to chop it in half but also graft the end two cylinders to your choice of 6 then fab. a Fan because the '07/8's are smaller in diameter and has more blades.

So it looks like the Union/Heller kit it must be.

MFH won't sell the engine parts, oh well.

I'll simply have to keep my eye out for these kits in more affordable form. Thanks to all for the guidance.
