Superpeterbilt Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 I'm curious to see what you're going to do with the grill. Very nice built really impressive. Im going to replace the two bars and add some photo etch mesh behind it. It will have the stock look, youll just be able to see through. Im about to get started now, Ill have some pics up later.
Superpeterbilt Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Another small update. I mounted some '32 Ford headlights on the 359 pedistals. I cut some brass tube to attatch to some 18 guage wire to use as hydraulic line. I only had green, so it will have to be painted. I also drilled holes and started running air lines.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Lookin really good man. I'm really diggin the headlights.
Old Buckaroo Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Looks like you stole the garden hose Terry - Some really nice additions to make this kit come alive. Boy, I sure wish someone would cast those '32 Ford headlights in resin. I could go for about 6 pair
Superpeterbilt Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Thanks Clayton. Sean, the lights are only loosely attatched. Im thinking about pulling them off and casting them. I have a bunch of old school Petes that could use them.
Tesla Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I'm glad to see the hydraulic and air lines being installed. Keep taking great pics of these details. This is something I would like to attempt on future builds.
Superpeterbilt Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 Small update again tonight. I just did a little more work on the lines. I drilled a hole in the tank for the hose and permanently mounted it to the frame. I ran some copper wire through the trailer frame for air lines. I added some flat strip to the sides of the hose fitting to make it a wingnut.
guitarsam326 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Terry, those air lines look great, how did you get them so symmetrical? And what type of wire did you use?
Superpeterbilt Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 Terry, those air lines look great, how did you get them so symmetrical? And what type of wire did you use? Thanks Sam. The black line is just the roll of tube that comes with the old AMT kits. The yellow is some tiny coated copper wire. As for the symmetry, I drilled holes where each end attatches. I superglued one end and let it sit overnight, then using tweasers to bend them, I sized them up and snipped the ends until they appeared equal. The fitting on the yellow line is just tiny hex stock. I glued the line to the fitting first(leaving some excess line), then glued the fitting to the truck. When the glue was dry and strong, i bent the lines into place and glued them. This was not without aggravation. I broke the yellow lines off several times trying to achieve this. I hope that helps.
guitarsam326 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Yes, it does help knowing someone has as much aggravation as I do with these air lines! Is the yellow line telephone wire? The reason I ask is I use telephone wire but it doesn't want to hold its shape without a fight!

Im wanting to say it was with a Revell model I have.
guitarsam326 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 That's cool, just curious. If you want some smaller diameter wire, try wire wrap, that's what I use if I want something smaller than 22 awg.
gatorincebu Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Terry, You have that trailer looking pretty good. And I like your choice to use the pete to pull it. Be Well Gator
Superpeterbilt Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Slowly but surely, its moving along. I added roof lights, ac, spot lights, and mirrors to the cab. I drilled a light panel for the rear of the tractor. I got some paint on the rear wheels, and body of trailer. I made a new tail light panel for the trailer along with a bumper.
Old Buckaroo Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I really like the color combo of the truck and trailer. Those mirror brackets worry me though as they would never survive on my bench.
Superpeterbilt Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 I really like the color combo of the truck and trailer. Those mirror brackets worry me though as they would never survive on my bench. I was trying to match the frame color with no such luck. The paint Im going with is only a tad different, but its close enough. The truck chassis is going to be repainted to match the trailer.
Tesla Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 It's looking real nice Terry. The airlines and fittings really make it stand out. Thanks for all the detail pics...I want to try doing this also.
Mopar - D Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Terry looking real nice your added details are really showing throught on this build. Looking forward to seeing this one completed.
Superpeterbilt Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 Tonights update: The rear lightbar is ready for primer. I made a mesh catwalk and rear window guard. I decided to go with a single bar in the center of the grill for a continued custom look. Heres it is, tell me what you think.
Tesla Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 All of them look great...the rear window guard is a nice touch!
Petetrucker07 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Looks great Terry. I really like the lights bars.
Superpeterbilt Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 All of them look great...the rear window guard is a nice touch! Thanks Dennis, its alum mesh framed with .060 styrene angle.Same thing on the catwalk
