Curious as to what others have done to 'fix' or remedy the grill section not fitting to the fender width.

Push out the fenders and add to the hood or is there enough material to properly some how section the grill section?

Push the fenders out and add a bit of material to the hood sides. WAY less effort than trying to narrow the grille.

Narrow the grill is easy. On the actual car, there are two panel lines on each side. Cut the grill at each spot and, depending on the kerf of your saw, glue back together or sand until desired width.

Here is my attempt:

You can see where I cut just beyond each orange light on the grill.

You will also need to sand the edges of the grill insert to fit, but IIRC, that was pretty easy.
