Mike Chernecki
Has anyone found a better detailed chassis to fit the amt '69 Chevelle? I would like to build some '68, '69 Chevelles and a Beaumont, but I can't get past the chassis. Be nice to eventually get an all new tool '68/'69 Chevelle some day. Guest Davkin
I often use the AMT '69 Olds 442 or '66 Olds W30 chassis to replaced other GM intermediate chassis. David
Lyle Willits
Every 68-72 Chevelle I've built rides on the AMT '69 Olds 442 chassis. Not only is it the correct chassis but it also has posable steering. For even much more accuracy, cut away the 442 firewall, inner front fenders and radiator and support and graft those into the Chevelle. Mike Chernecki
Thats great, thanks for the information. I built a '69 442 and thought it was an great kit. Now where to find one, impossible to find amt kits now. Everyone has cleared out all the amt kits and now your starting to see eBay prices starting at over $30 for a recently available kit. Dave Mikrut
I second the olds 442 W-30 kits chassis choice, lots more detail and as a matter of fact, when doing a frame off restoration of my 1:1 1970 Chevelle at the time, I was able to replace my damaged frame with a 69 Cutlass frame which was in nice condition. So it is a match.

MrObsessive
OK, you GM guys answer me this..................Will that '69 442 chassis work for GM intermediates after '72? I'm thinking of a detailed project down the road which'll involve turning the just released '75 Chevy Laguna S-3 stocker into a street car. Were the wheelbases and frame rails the same for the '73-'77 cars?
Lyle Willits
I would agree that the 442 chassis is a good choice. The wheelbase changed in '73. I'm not home so I don't know what the wheelbase was (no reference material here at work,,,LOL). The frame layout also changed.
outsider
i want to say the 73 chassis is the same its longer than the 72 down chassis. i do know you can use the rear control arms fron a 70 chevelle in a 75 laguna from personal experince. A local wrecker has a couple '70 Cutlass hardtops with nice frames. Is that a picture of your Chevelle, looks nice. You says its a '70, but why does it have a '71-'72 rear bumper?
