Howard Cohen Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 For the past 35 years I have been using stainless steel surgical blades. They are about half the thickness and twice as sharp as X-acto or Excel or any other hobby blade on the market. I use them for BMF and when they finally start to dull, I can cut plastic with them. FYI...I used to use 1 X-acto blade to foil a car and then throw it away. With the surgical blade I can do 4 or 5 cars before it gets dull. It cuts cleaner, finer and more precise. The only downside is when I slip and cut myself...but it's a clean cut and heals quickly
DrGlueblob Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I got a great deal off ebay. -25 Testors #11 knife sets each w/one handle and six blades in a carded package, all for 15 bucks. Come to find, all the #11 blades have this odd "tanto"-style tip. It has an extra angle just below the tip. Takes some getting used to. I still have a100-pack of Excel #11's in the shop, so no big 'ting.
935k3 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Does Michaels or Hobby Lobby sell the 100 pack? 40% coupon ya know... They do sell the 100pk at A.C. MOORE. With the coupon they are about $18.
Mark Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I just did a random eBay search...didn't even bother to sort by price. At the top of the list, 100 blade pack for $11.99, free shipping...
